5. No, the part that surprises me...
...is that we are supposed to be too stupid to connect the dots.

As George W. Bush once said, if you want to find the terrorists, follow the money.

3. Well, this makes more sense than any bullshit about a pipeline.
It never made any sense to me that the real Afghanistan story was about a pipeline which had not yet been built, running for hundreds of miles through overtly hostile territory where anyone along those hundreds of miles with a minimum of explosives could put the pipeline out of of commission for weeks or months at a time. Far more cost effective to run a somewhat longer pipeline through more stable regions.

But this changes the game.

6. thats why it hasnt been built
Edited on Mon Aug-16-10 12:02 PM by iamthebandfanman
but they do want that..
just requires a stable country...
which for some reason people keep thinking is a possible goal...

if the country were without violence, that pipeline would already be being built lol

at any rate, i think we all knew there were resources there to be had...

the saddest part is now corporations will rape their country and neither people here nor there will see a dime of money for it

4. Gotta tap that junk
The for-profit-oil crowd is getting the shakes and dry heaves -- they gotta have the thrill of endangering the planet, the rush of polluting our environment, the satisfaction of sacrificing hundreds or even thousands of human lives in pursuit of oil, our dear lord and savior PETROLEUM.

What idiot would use wind or solar power when we can fuck our planet up with oil?

7. This is fairly small
Doesn't still mean that billions won't be made off of it by somebody, but there are some much larger oilfields out there that would be much more easily developed. The big oil fields have probably almost all bee found, so increasingly these smaller ones will be where we are getting our oil. When it is finally developed, the price of oil will be so high that this will be a very profitable operation.

8. Afghan for oil
Okay...I understand the connection between President Bush and oil. Is the OP suggesting that President Obama wants to be in Afghanistan for the oil.

Petreaus is taking orders from our President. I have never thought that President Obama was in this because of the oil.
