This is a damn good interview. Chuck Todd is quite most of the time and presents a very weak rebuttal to Scahill saying that Blackwater (and corporations like it) are required because the Generals (or whoever in his mind) don't think we have enough troops already in Iraq. He didn't seem ready to defend it though and was hush-mouthed when Scahill was talking. When are we going to talk about America's darkside?

3 years ago this thread would have 20-30 replies by now. I wonder if some want to avoid the whole Blackwater issue now that it's known Obama has walked in lockstep with Bush on this...

2. Blackwater and other mercenary corporations have the ironic and seemingly contradictory distinction

of being both loose cannons and tape worms; on the military, both from a budget and personnel perspective.

There is no logical reason to having for profit mercenary corporations other than what Todd's weak argument alluded to, either political cowardice or disrespect for Constitutional process.

If you can't make the argument to the American People for more troops when times call for it, either get the hell out of public office or get the hell out of the war.
