I was very tired last night when I was flipping around on the TV and came across the Beck repeat show - I laughed my ass off during those two minutes before changing the channel ;)

THE TWO MOST RIDICULOUS MINUTES are at the 1:30 to 3:40 mark in the video.

I can't believe Beck added: ".... I don't know if the president is Dr. Doolittle and I don't know what all of this means yet, but we're looking into it...."

LOL

4. The Jones Act
Can anybody please give me an explanation of whether the Jones Act has been waived. If it hasn't, what is the logic behind it or reason that it would not be waived? The only information that I can find on it is on Hannity and Fox.

10. They're full of it. A waiver wasn't needed. There's a specific exemption
in the law that allows for the use of foreign oil spill response vessels, skimmers and oil spill vessels. I think it's all got to do with them not wanting Obama to use American vessels because of "protectionism" and union concerns. Rethugs really hate it when American workers get a fair shake.

11. I am not clear on what you are suggesting
The first part of your answer suggests that the Jones Act is not relevant at all, which was something that I would like to think is true. From what I have read, the Jones Act has to do with foreign vessels going from port to port and does not need to be waived. If that is the case, why doesn't the Obama administration make that clear and why would the Bush administration need to waive it for Katrina?

Your second point is something that really concerns me, so I hope I am misinterpreting it. Are you suggesting that the Obama administration is refusing help from foreign countries because they are trying to increase the number of american jobs? That would be supporting this pro-union reason I keep hearing mentioned as the explanation for it.

16. Sorry, I tend to run my sentences when Rethugs annoy me.
The Jones Act had been a thorn in the sides of Republicans for ages and they actually want a whole blanket waiver of it so that they can get a chance to get unregulated foreign vessels to ship oil, gas and a host of other goods around from port to port. Or better yet, just get it repealed, is their goal. And Obama didn't refuse their help, he didn't have to. There are provisions in the Act that allow for the use of foreign oil spill response vessels and Obama made use of those and has been all along. The whole FAUX "news" and conservative talking points are just more of the need to bash Obama and a good maritime act that actually not only protects American workers, but protects us from terrorism as well. But, I guess when it comes to making money, even national defense is just a talking point with conservatives. Not that it's ever been more than that. But, he's been accepting help from foreign vessels all along. They just want him to waive the Jones Act in the hopes that they can do what Bush did during Katrina--use the waiver to get other ships through that have nothing to do with cleaning up the spill.

17. I wish we were a fraction as good at getting the message out
BTW, thanks for your follow up. I am happy to have somebody knowledgeable about this topic to help me clear it up.

So, first, the frustrating part.....Does nobody in our administration watch Fox News or visit any websites like Hannity? If they did, they would know how quickly this talking point is circulating. In fact, if you Google Jones act, it doesn't look good for the Obama administration. You still hardly hear jack shit about how deregulating the safety requirements caused this fiasco to begin with. Doesn't the administration have a communications director or somebody who can start changing the way that the Rethuglicans are successfuly making the world see this fiasco?

But why would Thad make the statement of "We are more than willing to consider Jones Act waivers" if there is no need to waive the act since there are exceptions built in? Why not just say that the Jones Act does not apply?

18. These guys are such scum
I thought that I would check out FactCheck.org and found a really good link discussing it. My question to you is, Can you tell me more about what happened during katrina that had nothing to do with cleaning the spill up. It sounds like it might be interesting to know.

12. Who watches Glenn?
Anyone who watches GB is a glutton for punishment, even two
minutes is two minutes out of someone's life they will never
recover. Two minutes doesn't sound like much, but you add up
all of the dead time spent watching GB and RL and SP et.al. is
a sorry waste of time that could be spent reinforcing positive
attitudes. Even if watched for two minutes for no other
reason than to make fun, it still gives the regressives
credibility.

14. I don't know, that part at about 6:00 is pretty wild.
"You have to change your perspective."

Translation:

You have to learn to eat shit again like workers did prior to labor struggles of the 20th century.

The more things change, the more they stay the same, indeed. The aristocracy and its agents will always try to turn the unwashed masses against themselves.

"Liberals are pure evil...and the Obama, the lord of the flies, is the worst! The violence of the left shows what they are...pure evil!"

The lord of the flies...hmmm...I wonder how they came up with that. Beck has been slyly hinting that the Predident is some kind of devil for weeks now. Is Obama's demonic nature the revelation he will unveil at his MLKesque rally in Washington?
