1. Not too far off!
The hardware looks dated but the activities and convenience are close to current reality.

However: "What the wife selects on her console is paid for by the husband on his console..."

1969 is longer ago than I thought. (And I was there)

15. I wish I owned that model.
Somehow mine didn't come with a "husband pays all the wife's bills" button.

Meanwhile, isn't that more equipment than it took to get to the moon?

16. Those are getting hard to find!
Regarding the equipment, all that old stuff looks like a hobbyist could have built it from a kit. Which is probably just about the truth of the matter.

Very densely integrated circuits have changed the look -- and size -- of technology a lot!

9. Ummm...
1967.

We've kind have made progress since then.

I'm looking forward to when it's more typical to see; "What the husband selects on his console will be paid for by the wife on her counterpart console." :)

5. "A monitor checks all circuits every two seconds."
Edited on Fri Apr-02-10 05:01 PM by damntexdem
Hmm, well I guess that would be enough to check "these and HUNDREDS of electronic circuits."

13. I don't know which "ronnie" you're thinking of, but...
...it definitely wasn't Reagan. The voice is wrong, and depending on exactly when they would have recorded it Reagan would have been running for or serving as governor of California, not making voice-overs.

8. I wish we could look at DU circa 1969.
Would it go to DefCon level 4 if more than three people were logged on at the same time?

18. Here's what it would be like:
Hubert Humphrey was too far left, that's why he lost to Nixon! Get away from that McGovern nonsense, vote for George Wallace in the primaries or we're sunk in '72!
