3. Lots of bragging and boasting of success is the way to go...

I wouldn't say that for individuals with their friends and family, but politically and career wise it's the way to go as if you never say what you've done no-one will know. It's not really an ego trip but stating the facts as they are. As long as it's said that a person isn't saying it out of big sense of self, but listing achievements that worked for the people as a whole.
