The ladies on The View talk about Sarah Palin and her remarks she made at a Tea Party Convention in Nashville, Tennessee. Barbara Walters blasts Palin for her defense of Rush Limbaugh's use of the word "Retard" and Walters wonders if it is a double standard. Guest Co-Host Meghan McCain also blasts Tim Tancredo about his statements he made at the Tea Party Convention. McCain goes on to say that his statements are "Racist".

'This rhetoric will continue to turn off young voters, and anyone who says different is smoking something...Period.'

_ _ _

Apparently a tell-all book is coming in August! Can't wait...

1. She's doing well for a Republican
but the Repukes will reject Meghan out of hand. Anyway if they really wanted a social Liberal they would cross over to the Democratic Party.

And I hate to use the term twice in the same week, but Meghan McCain's voice sure sounds like a Valley Girl airhead.

I forget whose voice she reminds me of but it sounds just like one of those snooty shopping mall prom queens from So-Cal or something. Someone whose shopping habits include reading the tabloids while browsing the cosmetic and shoe departments all afternoon. Probably one the girls in "Clueless" which would aptly define McCain.

7. I was thinking Lindsey Lohan
But, seriously She is a Democrat who tries in-vain to play republican because her dad is a repuke.

8. Thank you
It was killing me not knowing who her voice reminded me of.

Kind of admirable that McCAin doesn't really point out what a dick her dad is. Or conversely that she doesn't follow in lockstep behind daddy. Not like that Cheney brat does. For a second I can't remember her name.

Darn! I just did. Liz (that kid brat makes me BURN)

Of all the presidential or Vice presidential kids i can think of probably Ron Reagan makes the best presentation of political views coupled with family solidarity.

19. Exactly what I thought when she was on Bill Maher and got very snippy with
Paul Begala because she tired to dismiss something because it was before she was born. He told her, well, see for yourself:

Her entire segment made me want to slap her.

5. But, I wonder... does she have to use "valley girl" speaking?
I haven't been able to figure out why so many young women, or highschool to college aged women have to use the ...
Oh-mah-gad" speech.

What is it? Nobody talked this way in the 60's and 70's?

16. And people in the 60s and 70s
didn't talk like people in the 30s and 40s. Now can they have their ball back if they promise not to play in your yard again?

17. How did people in the 30s and 40s sound?
Like... ummmmm... rilly baaad?

So, I'm not sure what you're referring to.

I believe I've seen and heard enough video from the 30's and 40's that demonstrates spontaneous conversation being nothing unlike the 50's 60's and 70's normal dialect. Maybe they used better structure of the English language.

... but I DON'T believe I've ever heard anything that has quite sounded like VALLEY GIRL speak!

say it necessarily always made them less intelligent just following a trend. Although not everything Meghan says I will agree with.

4. It's a damn shame this girl understands the teabaggers better than her "elders"
on the liberal side who keep insisting that these people can be made to see the "progressive light."

9. She'd be a conservative Democrat
If Meghan McCain was a Democrat, she's be a conservative Democrat. She is pro-life and support smaller-government economic policies.

That being said, she appears to be open minded enough that I can at least stand listening to her, even though I may not agree with half of what she says. She's smart enough to recognize that a "civics literacy test" is virtually the same as "literacy" tests in the past that kept African-Americans from voting.

One thing that I really felt sorry for her was about a picture she posted on twitter where she was wearing a tank-top which did not conceal her breasts enough to appease the conservative pundits. They railed against her and although she initially fought back she eventually gave an apology. I think she should have accused them of telling her to wrap it in a burqa and then gave them the finger. It's her body and she can do with it what she wants. There is nothing shameful about having big breasts, but that was the message that was sent.

10. I follow her on Twitter and we have had many good discussions
She really is a great person and a sweet girl.

I remember that incident on twitter, she was so upset by it that she was going to cancel her account.

12. Is this the Barbara Walters who named Palin and Glenn Beck to her 'most intriguing people" list?
Edited on Tue Feb-09-10 03:09 AM by Adenoid_Hynkel
Babs is feeling a bit dirty now, methinks.

She sat right there and whitewashed Beck's lunacy and ignored his ravings about 'slaughters,' secession and "FEMA camps."
And she giggled away with plain, telling her "you do have a way with words.
I'm glad Walters has seen the light after watching the teabagger camp-out, but she's still a massive tool.

And Meghan, Get the hell out of that party. You're too good for them. You can't reform them. It's a lost cause.

15. Hate?
That's a fact, Jack.

They hate her father, they claim they didn't even want him for their candidate. The TeaBaggers are supporting JD Heyworth against McCain, although Bible Spice ( Palin ) says she's for McCain. That's probably the kiss of death for McCain.

14. She should stay in her party because she won't stay in the cookie cutter
mold but will actually think about the issues and speak. I am so tired of repugs repeating what they hear on Fox news and not even understanding what they are saying. I wonder how she feels about health care reform. It would be fantastic if she took this on and promoted a single payer option because it is really what is best for everyone but the repugs can't see beyond the fox news talking points. Medicare for all will help everyone get affordable care.

Literacy tests would probably disqualify more Republican voters than Democrats.
