I don't know if this made the DU yet, but it's been viewed by so few people on YouTube there must be a reason.

10. I was just wondering how "the left" was at fault
Considering that there's never been a left-wing govt in the US, the the moderate/conservative policies over the last generation - up to & including Clinton & Bush - have done such a fantastic job for the American people.

4. Gibbs really (REALLY) didnt want to talk about losing the base
And whats with the shift in emphasis from all people with pre-existing conditions to that "child in Iowa"?

That was a waste of time thanks to Gibbs repeating himself over and over instead of answering Ed's questions.

5. Agreed; Obama/Gibbs have to come to grips with this instead of trying to talk over it.

6. The base is leaving Obama simply because they wanted to believe he was
something he never was. He wasn't a "fighter", or a "progressive" or even a man of the left. He is a centrist. His policies from his primary website were clear on these points, but people did not want to hear it. It's just sad we progressive liberals have lost the opportunity of a generation by electing a man better suited for philosophy than the bloodsport of American politics.

8. Within two months of Obama taking office...
...I could see that Gibbs is a mealymouthed say-nothing typical press secretary. It gave me reservations about the whole administration. When are we going to stop this? As for Obama...it's true that he ran as a centrist, which is why the Republicans kept labeling him as a socialist. Repeat it often enough and the label sticks, no matter how ridiculous the label is. Obama's problem is not his policy stances, but his refusal to actually act on those stances with a firm hand. Bush may have run this country to ruin, but he was at least very effective at doing so. Obama needs that kind of determination to squash a fibrillating Congress. Set up simple health care reforms with a 20-page document (make it a children's book so that even the Tea Party crowd can read it) and understand it) that prohibits caps, exclusion for pre-existing conditions, and bans the dropping of a person from the plan, then set up a strong public option to compete with the insurance companies. Dare the Republicans to filibuster. Democrats have never been as good at the propaganda game as Republicans, time for them to take a page from their playbook. Either that, or get that single payer plan that every other industrialized nation has figured out is the only way to go through, again forcing Republicans to actually filibuster, and get them on record and TV. Don't just broadcast it on CSPAN, make it an ABC Game Of The Week affair. Spread it so far the even Fox News can't twist it. Just get it done, for crying out loud, and get it done NOW!
