"...but I gotta say, Contessa, just because so much of the commentary I've heard has been really idiotic. Liberals who want universal health care ought to be thanking Harry Reid for getting this thing done rather than talking about what's inadequate in the bill. I'm not saying the bill's a good bill, but if you're a liberal, and you want universal coverage in this country, and think that you could do better than Harry Reid, can do better than what he's done, or the White House can do better, they ought to lay off the hallucinogenic drugs because we have had a vivid demonstration of the limits of political possibilities on this issue."

She was nicer than than, but she does ask him to get serious, at about 0:55.

3. Apparently, they have plenty of those drugs in other parts of the civilized world.
Because THEY have the health care that America is supposed to do without.

When's the last time they were so full of praise for Democratic legislation?

5. no liberal is claiming they could do better
we're claiming that the senate is irredeemably corrupt and dysfunctional and that it should be a democratic body instead of an oligarchy. reid got r dun, but this country needs to join civilized europe and remove profit from health care.

about 45 senators are too old/stupid to even understand that this would OK. we don't profit from fire stations or the police.

15. No, all we want is cost controls.
The "savings" estimated for the Senate bill depends on a lot of unknowns and unknowables. Those savings are way exaggerated. The Senate bill's cost control measures are subject to all kinds of manipulation. Who runs the CBO anyway?

12. Yep, we're nuts. Govt single payer healthcare is a worldwide global fraud
which has never worked anywhere and we are crazy to even imagine we could work towards it here with our representative democracy.

That's our liberal media helping America with their excellent reporting I suppose.

GET OUT OF THE BUBBLE BEFORE YOU LET THEM DESTROY MEDICARE and the VA WITH YOUR IGNORANCE, HARWOOD

Limits set by whom?

The 1st drug to lay off of is that Right Wing Kool-aid everyone in DC and the media apparently live off of.

The minute the Beltway stops thinking like the Reagan and Dubya years, then we'll be able to get something done.

23. He had been practicing that snide remark for hours...
What a dick head. Pretty apparent he had that stupid little insult prepped to toss in to this interview today. What a dick.

I think Reid did bust his butts...considering those four wolves in sheep's clothing (aka D after their names). But that doesn't mean we have to be happy with a cold soup with rocks in it. Such a dumb ass!

It's a start. NOW we need to weed out the worthless Congressmen with D's after their names and replace them with Congressmen determined to look out for the American public, NOT the corporate interests.

Eat shit and bark at the moon harwood.

Accept it - 80% of the Dem senators are corporate whores, and the "fight" we've seen over the last few months is nothing more than theatrics.

THEY DONT WORK FOR YOU!

37. How did the fringe group of so-called "activist progressives" that post on
DU suddenly become "the base" of the Democratic Party. I thought that we always considered the African Americans who reliably vote Democratic in election after election to be the base.

So, how do so-called "progressives" plan to elect other "progressives" once they've completely alienated the African American base of the Democratic Party by rhetoric that sounds awfully far right, and I hate to say it, awfully racist.

Now prostitution, that would be Sen. David Vitter, but for the drugs, it's Rush.
