At a press conference on November 9th, Speaker Christine C. Quinn was asked about the gay marriage bill that was put on the agenda for a vote by the New York State Senate.

1. Moving indeed. However marriage equality is in danger in NYS....
.... largely because Mr. Bloomberg gave the State GOP 600,000$ ( that we know about) to hang onto it's majority in the State Senate in 2008.

The GOP caucus is unanimously anti-equality. At least some of the anti-votes tomorrow will be cast by GOPers put there via Bloomberg's cash.

Ms. Quinn is very fond of Mr. Bloomberg.

Mr. Bloomberg is very fond of Ms. Quinn.

One hopes that Ms. Quinn is on the phone at this moment imploring Mr. Bloomberg to use his influence with the people he helped mightily in the last cycle to hold onto their seats.

Yet one doubts it.

"Beware the bonds you forge in life....".

2. Bloomberg just sent a letter to all State Senators urging them to support ssm
And the Democrats still hold a majority in the Senate. They have 25-29 votes for same-sex marriage now. They just need some Republicans to support it. I guess that's unlikely considering what happened in NY-23, but we'll see.

3. A whole LETTER!?!
No tedious personal appearances, public appeals, or inconvenient trips to dreary Albany to do face to face lobbying of the people he put there to.... among other things.... block marriage equality.

But a generic letter to DEMS and GOPers alike? A form letter, in other words?

My hero!
