2. That's great but just how many people watch
Rachel Maddow? MSNBC ratings are minuscule compared to Faux and right-wing radio. The average American doesn't have a long enough attention span to watch Rachel for 10 seconds let alone 10 minutes. All the Republicans have to do is scare people with a few lies and just say no to everything. It's hard to educate people on the facts when they won't listen.

6. I watched the video and agree 100% but
most of your average Americans don't even know who she is. MSNBC is just a very small part of hundreds of cable channels. I wouldn't know who she was if I wasn't DU. I can't even get MSNBC.

Anyone with an internet connection can see this.

5. good point...
i love what rachel maddow does but sometimes i think she's preaching to the choir...
but maybe from time to time some fox viewers may drop in...and if they can take in what she's saying
possibly it will start to educate the less informed - i hope so...

12. I'll flip over to Fox ONCE in a while,
If there's a commercial and nothing else on, and sometimes, it catches my interest, not because I agree with them , but to see what rhetoric they are using for the day. I assume the hard left will do the same, but most of them are as hard core right as I am left, and I KNOW my mind ain't gonna change, so I assume they are even less likely to open their minds. It's the ones who are still undecided, and on the fence, the people with SOME intelligence and are able to think for themselves. Those are the ones people like Rachel can win over, because she and the others, base their shows on facts, not propaganda and fear like the right.Like tonight, I was curious to see how fixed news was treating the mob thing at town halls. Not ONCE did they say it MIGHT be organized by lobby groups and pro's. They said it was "Average Americans who just happened in to speak their minds." So I think she is doing a great job, and those that seek the truth will find it.

should be reported as such."

Good for Rachel for digging into who is behind all this.

this was staged. Did CNN address this? We do need to get the word out.

17. Keep in mind
Most of us here I would say are moderates. People who want honesty regardless of party affiliation. We call out Obama when necessary.
The crazy far right have been lost and will stay that way. The goppers know it. Obama didn't win by democrats alone. He won with independents and moderate republicans who crossed over or left the extremists who have taken over the party.

The GOP wants them back. Rachel speaks to them. By her diligence in keeping the truth out there she confirms they made the right decision and so did we. Our minds can be changed too so we need affirmation. I don't worry about the narrow minded..it's the broad minded we need to keep and Rachel sees to that.

20. K&R for everyone to view!
This is important stuff and TRMS is providing a service that was noticeably absent in November / December 2000!

The Rupublithugs storming the Miami-Dade recount was the template for this kind of nonsense, and the right wing has been only too happy to assist their corporate paymasters and overlords ever since in many other ways.

The single best thing to do is to put a spotlight on the donors and their affiliations, exactly as Rachel did on last night's show. This simple-minded attack of calling things "elitist" is totally repugnant already. It did not work for Karl Rove in his characterization of Barak Obama as "the guy at the country club...etc." It did not work for Sarah "Syntax-challenged" Palin in her attempts to paint the "mainstream media" as the coastal elites looking down on the "real Americans". Yet it is still rolled out again and again.

The mindset required to believe this shit is depressing. To take any of these "elitism" charges seriously, one must believe that the monied interests behind the messages either are funding it for purely ideological reasons or actual concerns for the "regular Joes". Nothing, and I do mean absolutely NOTHING, could be further from the truth! That is demonstrably true and has been ever since Reagan and his cronies hijacked America in 1981 with their "government IS the problem" mantra and misguided Friedmanite economic policies. These people funding the ads - and busing people around to multiple events - are, simply put, evil. They use propaganda and fear in ways that would make even the most hardened editor from Prada green with envy.

Kudos to Rachel Maddow for speaking truth to power in the media in ways that almost no one else has the guts to do. Her show is a landmark for American democracy that is NOT wholly owned corporatism. Without the work of Maddow and Olbermann, Bill Moyers and places like TYT on YouTube, DU, Huffington Post and Daily Kos, the entire shadowy nature of those shaping the debate would be utterly unreported. Don't wait for Fox to EVER speak of it! Or CNN! (home of the now censoring ad department!) Or CBS! Or ABC! Or even NBC news! The sad truth is that PBS and MSNBC are the only places that this kind of story gets anything close to the airwaves.

The greatest irony is that NBC/CBS/ABC and CNN get thumped by the crazies as "mainstream media" with a "liberal slant" when they are so desperately trying to each out whore the other at the corporate teat!
