17. Everything that comes out of this womans mouth is powerful poetry

If anyone can give Hillery gravitas it is this woman....none the less, and lest we forget Hillery was once a republican and Bill was republican light but only slightly less, a good and to some a great president who, a thing unheard of to the pugs, not only balanced the budget but left a surplus for the pugs to squander like drunken sailors feeding criminal welfare programs for the richest amongst us. He treated the constitution as sacrosanct and that is another thing unheard of to the pugs who treat it as so much toilet paper. All that plus a lot of baggage makes her a risk we cannot afford at this life or death struggle for our dying republic. If she is the chosen one however, I will jump right on the band wagon without further thought. I am however still hoping against hope that Al Gore finally decides it is time for him to come on board whether it is convenient for him or not. He has a duty to this country and is the only man to fill the void that was once our very great democracy.

18. Seeing her again reminds me of the Clinton Inaugural. Nice.
It reminds me of another era of genuine concern for the welfare of everyone domestic and foreign, that this country had. I would vote for Hillary if that would return.

19. Wasn't that a wonderful beginning? Loved that inaugural poem.
Maya is a national treasure and Ms. Clinton is extremely lucky to have someone of her stature in her corner. Thanks for posting this - her eloquence is such that is it simply a gift to listen to her.

I am one of the holdouts for Gore - but if Clinton is the nominee, she will of course get my vote.

23. eh....i've seen/heard/read maya being better than this....
i understand that whole "hillary rodham clinton is a woman" thing, i get it. "sisterhood is powerful." i read the book back in the day. i'm part of the sisterhood.

but it makes me want to ask:
maya, do we endorse her because she is a woman? is that why we should vote for her? or is she the best of our best? is there someone better? do we sacrifice the ultimate best simply because she is a woman? or does being a woman make her the best?

maybe i'm just tired. maybe i don't get it.

but i suspect maya and hillary have very different world views. (ie: the dove and the hawk) so it kinda surprises me that she made this video.

24. I have loved Maya Angelou for YEARS
have read many of her books some of them more than once - and I can't bring myself to watch this video - I'm getting the drift that it is supportive of Hillary - and to hear Maya do that will break my heart. I have been politically active and a feminist literally since I was a little girl in the 60s when my divorced mother ran for local election and some idiot man came to our home and said if she couldn't keep her husband how did she expect to hold political office....given this history I have longed for a woman President for many many many years - but Hillary is not the one. She stood virtually silent for years on so many issues - can not take a stand on ANYTHING unless it is tested by her consultants six ways to Sunday - she supported this hideous invasion of Iraq and last I knew still refuses to admit her vote was a mistake - I like to say Hillary stands for NOTHING BUT ELECTION - I actually have trouble sleeping sometimes because I am so afraid she will get the nomination and I truly do not believe I can vote for her - Hillary Clinton is a huge disappointment so hearing Maya praise her is more than I can take....

The straw that broke my camel's back as far as Hillary goes is this quote after she met with Cindy Sheehan:

http://www.commondreams.org/views05/1016-20.htm

"My bottom line is that I don't want their sons to die in vain... I don't believe it's smart to set a date for withdrawal... I don't think it's the right time to withdraw."

That quote sounds exactly like what the few Republicans I talked to that week said. Making sure that our children did not die in "vain" sounds exactly like something George Bush says. A "date" for withdrawal? That sounds like Rush Limbaugh to me. That doesn't sound like an opposition party leader speaking to me. What Sen. Clinton said after our meeting sounds exactly like the Republican Party talking points I heard from Senators Dole and McCain."

So I'll sleep on it and maybe tomorrow I'll watch Maya on Hillary and then again maybe I won't...
