Sanchez on Birther Stupidity. Holds up a copy of Obama's birth certificate and says:

"For a large and vocal number of Americans, this may as well be bathroom tissue."

Why he thinks the number of people even remotely fixated on this issue is "large" I have no idea.

Edited on Tue Jul-21-09 11:49 PM by Number23
What's funny is that even the conservative radio guy Sanchez is talking doesn't buy it. Says that he won't allow callers to his show to even TALK about the birth certificate issue but yet, somehow thinks that Obama should call a press conference or tell Gibbs to go out with the birth certificate to dispel these rumors.:eyes:

Obama could tattoo his birth certificate to his behind and these stupid, racist @ssholes still wouldn't believe that it existed. So why should he or anyone in his administration acknowledge these people??

3. Rick Sanchez may
be "conservative" but he has a history of exposing rw whackjobs on msnbc.

So I'm not surprised he would go for the reality on this one, too.

6. I've often turned to Rick Sanchez when Norah O'Donnell was on MSNBC.
He's much less irritating and attempts to present a balanced view. He was excellent covering news about Gaza in recent months, when we heard little about this elsewhere. And he was willing to be tazered... x( ;)

30. Seems there's at least two different
views on Rick Sanchez. He was a corporatemediawhore for a long time and then suddenly he switched and started calling some facists on their crap..but, I see the post below doesn't have any good feelings about him.

Maybe some "news" people like to mix it up to get viewers from both sides?

39. It's also possible that some DUers haven't watched him for a long time.
That's the way it is for me and Lou Dobbs. I used to watch him frequently, when he was speaking out against the Iraq war, even subscribed to his newsletter. Randi Rhodes once had a crush on him, LOL. But when I moved in with my BF, I got used to watching the MSNBC lineup, didn't realize that poor Lou had become completely batty until I read it here on DU.

My turning the channel to Rick Sanchez was simply because I found Norah O'Donnell so irritating. She really sent me over the edge when she glibly announced, not that long ago, that the Israeli president was here to visit President Bush*! And I was pleasantly surprised with Rick's evenhandedness and the relevant questions that he asked. Before, I just thought that he was the idiot that agreed to be tasered...

they'll kick and scream and refuse to believe even with absolute proof right in their face because their hate is so sick and obsessive, while the racist pigman Limbaugh fuels the fire and hate every single day on republican hate radio.

Edited on Wed Jul-22-09 01:38 PM by SemperEadem
because the very same people who are screaming the loudest would have kept their mouths shut over McCain in born in Panama.. and they sure didn't have a problem with Schwarzenegger's being born in Austria back when that special election went down.

This is about a black man being president and nothing else. They cannot stand it and their crazy is being worn on their sleeves.

Obama doesn't have to prove shit to these people. If he wasn't a citizen, there are too many governmental agencies who would have had to have colluded over the past 47 years and been able to see into the future to make it happen.

35. I don't think it's 'cause he's black...
... but simply because he's a Democrat. THAT's the reason you didn't see hay being made out of anything regarding McCain and Arnie's birth location. Obama could have been white, Hispanic, Native American, doesn't matter; because his father was from a fur'n country -- and a Muslim one to boot, OMG!!111!!! -- and he spent time in that country during his childhood, we have to put up with this "important" opin... er, story. :eyes:

10. I agree. But, it would have been nicer if the lady from Factcheck.org had said a bit more
But come to think of it, from her perspective they probably feel that they've said all that they can say. She even acknowledged that at this point, her group considers the obsession over this "issue" insane.

12. Sadly, I think the group of people known as "moron-Americans" . . .
Is larger than we might like to admit. Not to mention that the subclass of people known as "media whores" is also quite large when compared to the larger population of "journalists."

I agree that it would be unpresidential to respond to this now. It would also suggest Obama's running scared from the village idiot. I would not respond to this, and if anyone in the press should ask about it, give 'em a withering stare, move on to someone else, and don't call on 'em again.

40. That's not the problem. The problem is that we have liars who are given a platform to lie
And that lie gets repeated on radio, on conspiracy and RW websites, and like the little fuck on Sanchez's show said, takes on a life of it's own.

Obama can never put an end to it, and the little fuck knows it. This is classic GOP tactics. It happens every 4 years to Dem Presidential candidates, and even to lesser Dems out there who seems to be a threat at the time.

Look at the history of made up "controversies"
Sandy Berger stuffed 9/11 documents into his socks. If only he'd come forward and prove us wrong, then all this would just GO AWAY!
Nancy Pelosi lied about the CIA lying to her. If she'd only admit it, then all this would GO AWAY!
Gary Condit raped and killed that woman. If he'd just resign and turn himself into the police and admit it, then he can put it past him and all this would GO AWAY!
John Kerry shot himself to get those purple hearts. If he'd ONLY release his medical records, than this whole controversy would GO AWAY!
Al Gore said he invented the internet. If he'd only apologize for saying it then this would all GO AWAY!
Bill Clinton has a trail of bodies in Arkansas. Clinton (never President in front of his name) should release all of his Governor and Presidential schedules, proving he was nowhere near the crime scenes, and this whole controversy would just GO AWAY!
The list is longer than I can remember.

Obama can't put an end to it and he shouldn't have to. If I pull something out of my ass and accuse you of of that something, the onus is not on you to prove me wrong. The onus is on me to prove I have the facts on my side. The argument that Obama just has to capitulate and bow down to the demands of the accuser who just pulled something out of his ass is giving them credence at best and worst, giving in to extreme extortion. Which only tells them that pulling lies out of your ass has benefits.

I liked the last part where Chris says so those wackos in John Campbell's district of California don't vote for him because he fundamentally disagrees with you.. Chris got him to say that he believes Obama is a native born American. The light on these people is great and proves their ignorance on issues and their bigotry.

37. You could put it that way.
You could also say that Republicans deny the existence of facts and claim everything's a matter of opinion, and that this is connected to their anti-intellectualism. I wonder if these dicks tried to tell their arithmetic teachers in grade school that they were wrong to penalize them for wrong answers, that everyone's entitled to their opinion about what the sum of two numbers is, and who are you to tell me that two plus two doesn't equal five just because you have some fancy college degree and I'm just a kid?

And these fruitbaskets are the same ones who believed hook, line and sinker that George Dubya Bush did NOT go AWOL from his national guard duty, despite the many witnesses. (Some of them believe to this day that he was a war hero, not the draft-dodger he actually was.)

Just shows the GOP fruitbaskets create their own reality.

It is America that suffers.

I would actually recommend people sending this around.

The fact that Mr. Sanchez has generally been a conservative, at least one of his two guest who in spite of some nonsense agreed the whole birth certificate business is nutty and that the Congressman's town hall meeting was a Republican Congressman who also openly states that President Obama is a U.S. citizen only adds strength to this presentation.

The crazies hijacking a Republican Congressman's town hall meeting - might even be rather eye opening about the realities of where grassroots Republican activist are coming from
