Cenk comments on Pew Poll that shows six percent of scientist responded that they are registered as Republican.

CENK: "We look at it as 'Hey, you know what? Facts are facts. These are the guys whose job it is to find out facts, so of course, they wind up realizing that the Republicans are wrong, and besides, the Republicans are anti-science..." Whereas the conservatives look at it and they say 'See it. We knew the scientists were not to be trusted.'

I've said this many times. They are against anyone who brings you facts. If you're a scientist and you try to investigate what the facts are... journalists, professors."

Nevermind, I just answered my own question.

3. Probably true.
Edited on Fri Jul-10-09 10:00 PM by ihavenobias
Although I've encountered a handful of people here who HATE Cenk, i.e. they've openly said they hate him, can't stand him, etc. I'm guessing they're salivating over the chance to downgrade any video/article that says "TYT/Young Turks/Cenk" in the title.

They don't even watch the video or read the article (as evidenced by the fact that the negative recs appear instantly).

4. True that.

Some of those people may be lurking Republican troll anti-scientist anti-fact stupid buffoons, themselves. I notice we get a lot of trolls in the video forum because it is on the front page and thus more visible and prone to show up in google searches.

I agree that there are clearly regular DUers with axes (axii?) to grind who will misuse the unrec feature. Lots of ridiculous 'so-and-so is dead to me!' stuff here lately.

TYT is on the greatest page often for a reason.

6. Actually, scientists don't "believe in" evolution or any other theory
They USE theories. Science is a checkable reality map, and the question "Where does it apply?" is more appropriate than "Is it true?" When I cross the Columbia River headed south, my Washington road map does not become untrue; it just becomes inapplicable.

11. Actually, scientists don't "believe in" evolution or any other theory
Indeed. Scientists "trust" theories and the Scientific Method....they don't "believe" in them.... there's no need...they work and are trustworthy.

16. Nah. In a colloquial sense that's fine.
Edited on Sat Jul-11-09 01:31 PM by Tat
There is a massive amount of data supporting evolution and so it is clearly believed. Trust is a distinction without a difference. It isn't trust. In fact, you should try to destroy any theory you can. The end result is that if the theory has something behind it, it should be able to be falsified. Go ahead and use it, if it fails to work for you unlike the millions of other things we've tested that theory with, we'll give you the Nobel prize or something. You don't have to trust it either. It isn't something you accept, believe, or trust... it's what works. Though, generally speaking you can use those words.

I generally like him, but yes, he did interrupt Cenk here.

14. He wasn't anywhere near as annoying as Paul Shaffer,
In fact, he seemed to be consciously low-key, which I respect. It's just that he kept chiming in just as Cenk reached his point.

Edited on Sat Jul-11-09 02:28 PM by krister
Were the Republicans not anti-intellectual enough throughout the Bush era?

::edit::

I hope you guys do know that Pew Research has a terrible librul bias so this poll means nothing.

18. Well if american english
was good enough for jesus then it's good enough for me?

Besides what has science ever done that was the facts?

If it wasn't for the faith of REAL americans who believe and have faith there wouldn't be the known fact the earth is round! OR that gawd created the electricity!

If it wasn't for gawd - as opposed to science - there would be no automobile to get us around as gawd intended!

Signing off the gawd-gifted-to-his-flock internet.....
