Greenpeace climbers rappel down the face of Mount Rushmore National Memorial in Keystone, S.D., July 8, 2009, to unfurl a banner that challenges President Obama to show leadership on global warming. Obama is at the G8 meeting in Italy to discuss the global warming crisis with other world leaders. (Caption courtesy PRNewsFoto/Greenpeace)

2. never shoulda let 'em carve up that beautiful mountain in the first place.
I don't know about the Crazy Horse monument either. At least its's in a place that's SACRED to the tribes, not as the wasichu see the Black Hills.....a washed out gold mine....
But I wonder what Crazy Horse himself would say about it......

5. Granite kittens?
It's not as if millions of people were flocking to see the beautiful mountain before the carving. As a result of it, millions of people do get to appreciate the whole area who probably would never go there otherwise.

7. I bet they'd say 'only if Reagan gets a better spot up front' (g)

but if they keep it up, you won't have to ask 'a republican party' anything because there will be no party remaining

9. I hope Sarah Palin...
(I know this is just a rumor and I seriously doubt Sarah Palin has the brains to pull this off but...) Starts a new party called the "Conservative Party" for all the fringe freaks & Christians on the right will flock to...Which would shatter the Republican Party. Which could allow a Progressive party to emerge and those so-called Dems who are not progressives could absorb the so-called moderate Republicans left over from the Conservative split. Giving birth to a 3 party system?

I have a wondering imagination, huh?

8. I have thought the same thing...
If Obama can get Healthcare Reform and manage the economy enough to get re-elected...And then finish his last four years without a scandal I think hs should be carved into the mountain!

WHY NOT?

We will see...
