1. The best part was knowing that to his right Cap'n Kangaroo John Bolton and
little miss Heather Wilson, both GOP shills, had to sit silently and endure Bill's piece. LOL!

6. I saw this on the complete Maher video thread and was wondering ....
Why weren't there any cut away shots?

They always do shots of the panel laughing or wincing during "New Rules" ..... not this time

Too bad it was just a flash.

14. Hey, I remember Capt. Kangaroo. Sweet gentle guy...
...like an extra uncle or grandad who was fun to visit with, without Old Family Baggage flaring up to spoil things.

Please don't associate him with Bolt-head. (Not to mention that the Captain's shaggy blonde-white mop-top is too 'dirty fucking hippy'-style for Bolt-brain. And when does Bolton smile?)

Here's Bob "Captain Kangaroo (and Clarabell the Clown)" Keeshan's 2004 obit form MSNBC.com. It's be harder to find anyone more unlike John Bolton.

18. There's already an "official" (i.e. funnier) DU Bolton icon

21. John Bolton is not even a fraction
of the man that Bob Keeshan was... please do not compare. Bob Keeshan was a great activist for children and spoke out against violence in children's TV and was an overall good person. He lived his last years in Vermont during my time there and I grew up in his company every morning...

4. He forgot one thing... healthcare changes started with Nixon
Ehrlichman: “Edgar Kaiser is running his Permanente deal for profit. And the reason that he can … the reason he can do it … I had Edgar Kaiser come in … talk to me about this and I went into it in some depth. All the incentives are toward less medical care, because …”

President Nixon: (Unclear.)

Ehrlichman: “… the less care they give them, the more money they make.”

President Nixon: “Fine.” (Unclear.)

Ehrlichman: “… and the incentives run the right way.”

President Nixon: “Not bad.”

(bold emphasis mine)

Keep the people sick and we make more money!

And now, in the good ol' U.S.A., we shuffle paper to make money instead of manufacturing useful 'things' like we used to. Any cursory glance would reveal that the insurance industry deserves NOTHING, zero % from the healthcare dollar.

7. I know many DUers don't like Maher, but he does speak the truth, even if it hurts.
This is one of his best New Rules ever, because he clearly identifies THE major problem plaguing Amerika.

Greed kills.

12. I attended a graduation ceremony this week
After about 50 students did the waddle to get their diploma, I started counting. 85% of the girls were HUGE at least 75 pounds overweight. I'm not believing the statistics that say it is 30 or 35% of the students. I bet the problem is far worse than this. In another 15 years, the cancer and diabetes rates are going to skyrocket.

What was really odd is that in this particular graduation, only about 15% of the boys were really huge.

Close to George Carlin. I love him (tho I don't always agree w/him).

But I gave up HBO when my Directv rates were increased. :-(

22. His best one to date. Absolutely perfect. I was speechless.
Bill has done many great commentaries, but this one was his best, even if it was not his funniest. But I expected more applause. This was the most frank and honest New Rules ever, and because of its honesty, it was so confronting and so grinding. (Forget all that, I'm still speechless.)

25. I agree it was one of his best. I wish it was shown on prime time teevee
and every american would see it. As for the lack of applause, I think the audience was also speechless due to the intensity of this message. It's likely they didn't want to interrupt it.

34. K&R, I only just now watched
The idea that Bolton was on made my stomach churn. Now I'm glad he had to hear Maher's New Rules.

Mayer was solid when he stood up to the official position after 9/11 that the "Terrorists were cowards." He was correct then, and thrown off the MSM because of it.
