Sometimes I read here where DUers are reminiscing about Barry Goldwater, and longing for the days when Republicans weren't held in the grip of Chhristian fundamentalists. Today I chanced on this old Goldwater ad. It's dreadfully obvious, fear mongering, nationalism. It made me think for a moment...What if modern Republicans were more like Goldwater? If it were so, the Democratic Party wouldn't have to cater to Dinos, wouldn't have to worry about hitting the magic Senate number of 60, and life would be a political walk in the park. If only things could be so easy...
