1. Republics don't know any other way

to play politics other than PARTISAN. None of them can think for themselves regarding the merits or deficiencies of any piece of legislation. Somebody has to tell them the PARTYLINE. I think as a whole, Democrats try to play fair, try to be nonpartisan, try to do what's right, and we get slapped down for it every time. I'm very frustrated by how unfair this seems to me. Why do I love politics so? Must have a huge masochistic streak in me.

How Helen Thomas was basically blacklisted by Bush, and show politicians shutting off access can quickly tank or greatly damage a career.

If he asks a question and they try doing what Cantor did...Control the message he says, "You're off-tracking, Sir. My question was ..."

But, that's one reason why Australian Politicians, even John Howard, are so nimble on their feet.
They have to face the opposition in a question and answer period and then get pelted by the media.

But, politicians want to be seen and heard. They do whatever it takes to get on TV. Even if that means getting abused by peoplelike Jim Middleton
