7. It sounds crazy maybe, but eating lower on the food chain is

one of the single most effective things you can do to forward the progressive agenda. I wish I had the eloquence to make the case here. Eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nut and seeds instead of animal products helps not only animals, but would also lower health care costs because it lower the instances of heart disease, stroke, some cancers diabetes, etc. Buying your produce local helps the local economy, lowers the amount of fossil fuels used, allows you to know the person who grows your food giving you more control over pesticide use, etc. instead of buying mysterious stuff from China, you'd be supporting your neighbors. If the majority of people did this, we would go a long way toward breaking our dependence or foreign oil. Meat production requires huge amounts of water, oil and gas and grains,produces huge amounts of waste. For each pound of meat produced, you have to feed cattle about 44 pounds of grain. Animal products are where ALL dietary cholesterol comes from while providing NO fiber, a plant based diet on the other hand provides us with all of the necessary nutrients plus fiber with NO cholesterol. To recap, growing your own food and/or buying local and eating lower on the food chain helps reduce animal suffering, fuel consumption, pesticide use, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, stroke, greenhouse gases and helps your neighbors and/or local economy. The health benefits will lower health care costs.
