From a February 16, 2000 interview on PBS.

Forget about "9/11 changed everything", Dubya was "out to get" Saddam from the very DAWN of his campaign (if not before).

Me thinks O'Neill and Clarke were right.

2. very damning clip
he clearly states that all he needs to do is believe he is making them WMD's and he'll deal with saddam.

then he cheats his way in, takes a tragedy and uses it to fear the population into believing that saddam has the evil wmds.

then he captures him, takes his gun, and kills him.

Bush got to play cowboy against evil saddam and cheney got his oil.

5. Good find. I remember in the second debate he mentioned Iraq out of the blue
and revealed his embedded obsession then too.

7. That seals the fact that he was the PNAC candidate all along
They also had Lieberman on the other side - but in a weaker spot - so....

10. Plus he warned us that he wanted to go into Iran as he was going into Iraq.
He clearly told us he wanted to go after the "axis of evil".

...Dems should only fund the safe return of our troops and nothing else. NO MORE WARS!!

If bush gets his $100 billion, he'll take us into Iran in a blink of an eye.

12. I'm always still so amazed when I see these older clips of him from his Governor days,
how much more COHERENT he is. Not that he sounds like a rocket scientist or an intelligent, wise leader - but just that he is able to actually SPEAK normally. He's able to put together an actual sentence without stumbling all over himself. I'm sure he had gaffs back then too, but it's really amazing to see how badly his speech and thinking have turned to mush since he's was appointed. And how frightening is that?!

As for his Iraq plans...well, I'm not surprised at all. There was so much of a push and a rush to go to war, that it seemed obvious that they had been planning it for a long time. I think we all know that 9/11 was just a convenient excuse for them to use to ratchet up all their plans.
