Tamron Hall called bullshit on the apologists for the Rush Limbaugh Racist "parody",

MSNBC Host: It wouldn’t be ‘funny’ if someone called me ‘Tamron Hall the Magic Negro Anchor Lady.’By Ben Armbruster at 7:00 pm

MSNBC Host: It wouldn’t be ‘funny’ if someone called me ‘Tamron Hall the Magic Negro Anchor Lady.’»

Today on MSNBC, anchor Tamron Hall hosted a segment discussing RNC chair candidate Chip Saltsman’s Christmas greeting this year that contained a CD with the song “Barack the Magic Negro” on it. During the discussion, Kate Obenshain, vice president of Young America’s Foundation, defended the song, calling it “a parody.” But Hall, an African-American, quickly interjected, saying there is nothing “funny or amusing” it:

HALL: Well let me tell you this — if someone referred to me as “Tamron Hall the Magic Negro Anchor Lady,” I would never see it as anything funny or amusing.

Hall later told Obenshain, “you’re not going to win a lot of people over calling them ‘Magic Negros.’”

I definitely learned her name today!

Tamron Hall. Tamron Hall. Tamron Hall. Tamron Hall. Tamron Hall. Tamron Hall.
Tamron Hall. Tamron Hall. Tamron Hall. Tamron Hall. Tamron Hall. Tamron Hall.
Tamron Hall. Tamron Hall. Tamron Hall. Tamron Hall. Tamron Hall. Tamron Hall.

24. Too common a response. People commit crimes that are "stupid"
Nothing, it seems, is "wrong" -- selfish, immoral, bigoted, etc.

16. What it's really about isn't that white lady being "irate", it's about her being scared:
1)Scared of the fact that the country isn't buying her party's racist bullshit anymore;
2)Scared of getting on the wrong side of those 'Pugs who are STILL racist enough to think the song is actually funny.

And her fear reflects that of everybody who's leading her party. That's why Saltsman hasn't been forced out of the race yet, and why, if he ended up in a head-to-head showdown against Ken Blackwell, Saltsman would still win.

33. "*gasp* How DARE these uppity negro people get offended....
I'm so upset I have to DEFEND myself and Rush Limbaugh against these negroes! So sensitive! It's just PARODY, after all! You negroes need to get a thicker skin... *feigned indignation*"

Yep, that's pretty much her attitude, in a nutshell.

And she looked like a hot racist mess on national TV. Way to go, GOP, you idiots! :applause: You just proved Colin Powell's point!

That stampeding sound you hear is the last bastion of normal, common, decent people fleeing the GOP.

Any minority who supports the GOP at this point is an IDIOT of the HIGHEST order (Blackwell, I'm talking to YOU, bruh. Get some self-respect, why don'tcha?).

4. Rush Limbaugh...
...always disguises or rationalizes his bigotry, by suggesting, "Hey! It was just a joke!"

Meanwhile, all of the racists who listen to him daily---understand and appreciate this kind of stuff, because
they all understand that it is degrading and racist.

Anyone who suggests that calling our President-elect "a magic negro" is a joke--is a sick, disgusting Limbaugh ass kisser who should be
ashamed, because they are apologizing for racism.

Just because racism is set to music, doesn't mean it's not racism.

25. ineffective resistance to right-wing rhetoric
why does the waspy-sorority-girl-right-wing mouthpiece get the capitol building as her backdrop?
why is she allowed to repeatedly talk over the other speakers? (she's trained to do that. why are her interlocutors not trained to silence it?)
of all rhetorical devices, repetition is king, especially before a half-attentive teevee audience. right wing mouthpieces and their writers have understood the power of repetition and used it effectively for thirty years. the real point, republican racism, is lost to the michele bachmann look-alike because she thoroughly monopolized the exchange with her uninterrupted stream of bullshit. sad stuff.
we need to pay much more attention to the forgotten fourth R: RHETORIC, in preparing progressive voices, starting in grade school.

31. MSNBC page spells it TAMRON HALL
I can see that your spelling is prettier and looks nicer, but I went to MSNBC's web page
for her, and they spell her name Tamron Hall.

Tamron Hall
MSNBC anchor

Prior to joining MSNBC in July 2007, Hall spent 10 years at WFLD in Chicago, where she held a number of positions including general assignment reporter, consumer reporter, and most recently, host of the three-hour “Fox News in the Morning” program. She also anchored the weekday mornings and served as a noon anchor. While at WFLD, Hall covered several breaking news stories including one of Amtrak’s most devastating accidents in Illinois and she secured a one-on-one interview with Sen. Barack Obama shortly before he announced his run for the presidency. Hall was nominated for an Emmy for her consumer report segment, “The Bottom Line,” which she launched in 1999. Before joining WFLD, Hall spent four years as a general assignment reporter at KTVT in Dallas. She began her broadcasting career at KBTX in Bryan, Texas, as a general assignment reporter.

Hall received a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Temple University. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. Hall is also very involved in charitable organizations that help women fight abuse and organizations that work to end illiteracy. Hall is a native of Luling, Texas.

Hall lives in Manhattan.

18. How about Barack the Magic Nigger?
Yeah, that wouldn't be racist either. It is just pointing out absurdity through the absurd. Simple as that, no racist intentions there, right? My personal preference would be to just go with "Barach the stupid nigger". You are just pointing out absurdity through the absurd. Nothing more than that. Besides that, the last one is much more in touch with the Rush Limbaugh's of the world and their adoring fans. Now I am not saying that all Republicans are racist, but I actually feel like alot of them are. Rush Limbaugh definitely is and was probably giddy when this song first came out so that he could use the word Negro alot. If you ever listen to his show, there is an abudance of pure racist sentiment and he knows just how to say it without really saying it.

I think that the message coming across in this segment is not that it is wrong, but it was foolish to publicize the undercurrent of racism running through the party. It was foolish to publicize how racist we are, but it is not wrong to be a racist.

19. This reminds me so much of one of the
tapes where they were filming the people standing at line during the election. There was one exchange where one of the guys being interviewed made some comments about Obama and you just knew that the guy was a racist, but he never said it directly. You just knew. It was only until the guy was walking away that you heard him say "I would never vote for a black man".

I could write a lot of song lyrics here to that but it would just get censored. Boys and toys rhymes ...but you'll have to use your imagination. Rush and the RNC are sick enough to think it would be funny...maybe play it for their children for X-Mas.

21. She's just defending Rush Limbaugh?
I have news for her.

Along with everyone else he teaches hate for, it's women. She is defending a person who is her enemy.

As far as I'm concerned Limbaugh has gone over the line of "Free Speech" and should be fired just like he had been several times earlier in his career.

I can often tell a Limbaugh fan.

Last one I talked to said he "approved of the U.S. torchering people because other countries do it and because it works." This same person called me a "communist" simply because I told him that I don't lie on job interviews. This person is my cousin. That's like saying that it's OK for your kid to misbehave because all the other kids are doing it. This country should be SETTING the example, not following the examples of countries with lower standards. If the U.S. is supposed to be a country of leadership, then why do these people say we should follow?

Imus was fired for one remark. Limbaugh spews out the same kind of venom all day long, every day and a lot of it is about those liberals who he says are "more dangerous than fundamentalists."

Sorry, I'm all for free speech, but I don't defend Rush Limbaugh. I think he's got a 3rd grade, school yard bully mentality. I'd like to see the Fairness Doctrine back and throw people like him off the air. I've read some of the remarks on the Youtube.com posting of that "parody" and many of the comments are full of hate. I ask myself, is that what Republicans are all about?

They have to make some changes in public perception and Limbaugh is not helping.

I think HE is dangerous, even to the Republicans.

28. Rush makes bank for a reason
Rush creates division between the American people SO DAMNED WELL that he gets paid (and will continue to get paid) very, very well by the powers that be in our country.

His ability to divide us is his value to the ruling elite.

So I agree that he is a danger to R's even though they don't realize it.
