1. Am confused and a little bit informed .....maybe?
OK, there is a program called "Teen Challenge" that the nutty representative from MN knows about and has a lot of faith in. That is hardly an endorsement for ANYTHING.

The fellow speaking at the meeting was later indicted for some charges later on, and he had high regard for this program.

I don't really understand all the clips and what the message was supposed to be. Is it a nutwack earmark for idiots?

Seems to be focused on drug addiction for youth. Is it successful?

Sorry....I only listened once, but didn't learn much from what I watched.

4. They probably are, but it would be nice if the video
got to the point a bit more clearly. It was really hard to understand what the video was actually about. The article links may explain it, but if they do then what is the point of making the video. I am sure that there was alot of time invest in creating the video, but you may want to think about creating a new one that is a bit more organized, or at least explain some of the clips a bit. You are probably so knowledgeable about the topic that you can't see it from the eyes of somebody who has never heard of this issue.

3. Man I do not miss attending Pentecostal church.
Growing up I was surrounded with crap like this. And a huge LOL to that guy who says he worshiped satan backstage at an Iron Maiden show.

5. Can you imagine believing you have the power to cast a spell to cause an auto accident?
Wow, just wow.

6. Teen Challenge is actually a very successful program. Programs should not be sponsored based on...

supposed political loyalties. It has helped many young people get back on their feet after life-threatening drug and other problems...in some cases becoming a successful business owner within a couple years.

7. MNTC's Success rate is phony...
http://is.gd/bPQc

Let's look a little closer at that number and how it was generated, however. Start with the fact that MNTC participants are not just "addicts off the street." They are seeking treatment--either because they have to in order to avoid prison or because they have decided they want to stop using.

Most have been through a detox program to help with withdrawal--and many will have dropped out before completing that. MNTC participants have also consented to attend a highly religious rehab--or had their parents consent for them. This suggests that we have already eliminated many of the addicts who aren't motivated to recover before they even set foot in the door.

Because there is no control group, all of those facts already mean that any success in the program we see could be due to pre-existing motivation: not to anything special about the rehab. Only with a control group of similar people who get no treatment or attend a different rehab can we really tell what works and what doesn't.

The second important clue to pick up is that word "graduates." This means that no one who started but dropped out of the program was counted in the success rates. Since the people most likely to relapse drop out of treatment quickly--and since long-term rehabs like Teen Challenge typically report 50-70% drop out rates-- this means that this 74% does not come from a representative sample from the start.

Even if they were successful, MNTC's bible-based program violates separation of church and state.

Do you really believe taxpayers should fund a program that thinks Harry Potter and Pokemon is are demonic gateways to drugs?

http://www.mntc.org/uploads/pdfs/newsletter_200110.pdf

Hosea 4:6 states: “My people are
destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Our
children are being desensitized to the evil and corruption all
around them. Music continues to scream messages of hate
and violence. Pokemon is loaded in demonic symbolism and
evil power. Majick cards are based on supernatural power
and teach witchcraft. Television glamorizes and glorifies sex.
Everywhere around us, compromise is normal, evil accepted,
and the mention of Jesus Christ hushed.
These ‘games’ are pure and simply divination. Deut. 18:12
states that those who practice such things are ‘detestable to
the Lord.’ We are called to be blameless before the Lord and
abstain from even the appearance of evil. God is calling us
out to be separate. He is wanting to return for a pure and
spotless bride, without stain or wrinkle.
It is time for the Christian community to take a stand...

8. You can criticize a rate, but I know of many individuals whose lives were changed (saved) by the....
program.
