I'm sure that's the thinking behind it.

I don't know if you ever saw the Staples (the office supply store) "Most Wonderful Time of the Year" commercial, but it's a stellar--and very funny--example of the technique. Hint: the "Most Wonderful Time" ISN'T Christmas.

It's one of my all time favorite ads ever.

It's not uncommon for folks to get up and go to the fridge or do something else around the house during a commercial. That's why a voiceover is so important. While this commercial is on the person walking into the other room will only hear music.
