WASHINGTON -- Imported ingredients used in recalled pet food may have been intentionally spiked with an industrial chemical to boost their apparent protein content, federal officials said Thursday.

That's one theory being pursued by the Food and Drug Administration as it investigates how the chemical, melamine, contaminated at least two ingredients used to make more than 100 brands of dog and cat foods.

In California, state agriculture officials placed a hog farm under quarantine after melamine was found in pig urine there. Additional testing was under way to determine whether the chemical was present in the meat produced by American Hog Farm in Ceres since April 3, the state Department of Food and Agriculture said.

So far, melamine's been found in both wheat gluten and rice protein concentrate imported from China. Media reports from South Africa suggest a third pet food ingredient, corn gluten, used in that country also was contaminated with melamine. That tainted ingredient has not been found in the United States, the FDA said.

FDA investigators were awaiting visas that would allow them to visit the Chinese plants where the vegetable protein ingredients were produced.
more

Waiting for visas?
They have been DENIED Visas

thats a smoke screen given by the news media

if you can't investigate than how can you charge them

Waitng for WHAT FDA for more to die

Look to RENDING PLANTS who do not bother to take off plastic off the dead meat euthanized pets in bags from vets etc.Melamine is from plastic manufacture..

Remember.. melamine is also called cyanuramide and it is used to make PLASTICS it is a resin, and guess what renderer's fail to take out of their dead animal stew as they cook it? The PLASTIC.
What happens to plastic if it is BOILED? Sublime in it's insidiousness isn't it

More about Melamide..
Melamide Sublimes when gently heated. (NTP, 1992)
sublime - means to vaporize and then condense right back again

SYMPTOMS: Symptoms of exposure to this compound(Cyanuramide a.k.a melamine) may include irritation of the skin, eyes and mucous membranes. It may also cause irritation of the upper respiratory tract. Other symptoms may include urinary bladder stones, diuresis and crystalluria. Dermatitis has been reported. Kidney injury may occur.

ACUTE/CHRONIC HAZARDS: This compound is toxic by ingestion. It may be harmful by inhalation or skin absorption. It is an irritant of the skin, eyes, mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides. It also emits highly toxic fumes of cyanides. (NTP, 1992)
A list Other Names for Melamide
02284 (CA DPR Chem Code) , 1,3,5-Triazine-2,4,6-triamine , 108-78-1 (CAS Number) , 108781 (CAS Number) , 2,4,6-triamino-1,3,5-triazine , 2,4,6-triamino-s-triazine , 2284 (CA DPR Chem Code) , 777201 (US EPA PC Code) , **Cyanuramide** , Cymel , **Cyromazine** breakdown product , Melamine , S-triaminotriazine , Tiaminotriazine

The food chain is poisoned.Companies did not have to care about public heath or the environment because we gave them too much secrecy too much freedom to make what they make, companies are not loyal to anyone but the bottom line, and they have too much power and now they've destroyed the food chain. All so a few people that live private lives of security and pleasantness denied most of us could be so rich they'd never have to be obligated or responsible to ANYONE ELSE including the food chasing of Planet Earth.WE let them get away with it,WE let them claim corporations were people and entitled to the same rights when it was convenient to the company..Corporations are inhuman not alive and so do not have to consider things like the damage they do in the pursuit of profits.Psychopathic institutions, made up commodities playing money and status games among our own kind like fools very well may kill us.If we do not stop and take over the means of production and stop the privatizing Juggernaut fantasy of the wealthy who benefit the most from such sick arrangements..

I am beginning to think gluten anything is bad.

EDIT: I just found this:

"So far, melamine's been found in both wheat gluten and rice protein concentrate imported from China. Media reports from South Africa suggest a third pet food ingredient, corn gluten, used in that country also was contaminated with melamine. That tainted ingredient has not been found in the United States, the FDA said."

6. I don't know what to tell you probably call Purina to check
I saw a article which talks about starches being effective and cornmeal is a starch
In other words news is trinkling out that the problem is spreading out to other animals and other foods

I'd check it out to be sure
