40. We are all privileged to witness this
This is truly as momentous as MLK's great speech. The times and the stakes are different, but each one comes at an absolutely pivotal moment for our nation.

If I were a spiritual person, I'd have to say that MLK must be looking down mighty proud on this man.

..at different events.

wow, what a contrast. here's a guy that can inspire. here's a guy that can lead.

can anyone really imagine mccorpse or palin leading anyone or anything? how dumb would you have to be to think of those idiots as leaders?

What a difference. Obama's ability to show real leadership vs. McCain or Palin who are down in the gutter trying to divide our country.

A good friend and long time politician came out in support of Obama in Iowa within the first weeks. Farmer, Vietnam vet and he knew right away Obama was the person to lead us. I should have seen it then but I am glad I see it now. That is how a president speaks!

are not because it's 40 degrees here in Motown (and I have yet to turn on the furnace--hoping to hold out until Nov 1 and save money). I watched the whole speech (followed the links). Absolutely breath-taking. Reminds me so much of when I was a 6-year-old seeing JFK on the TV. I was mesmerized by JFK's speeches even as a child. Obama's speech is so much more powerful to me, as a grey-head, now able to truly appreciate our grave situation and what a game-changer Obama can be. He's the man for our times.

inspired 6 YO again. Even though I'm 54 now.

44. And here's the transcript
Remarks of Senator Barack Obama
“One Week”
Closing Argument Speech

As Prepared for Delivery
Monday, October 27th, 2008
Canton, Ohio

One week.

After decades of broken politics in Washington, eight years of failed policies from George Bush, and twenty-one months of a campaign that has taken us from the rocky coast of Maine to the sunshine of California, we are one week away from change in America.

In one week, you can turn the page on policies that have put the greed and irresponsibility of Wall Street before the hard work and sacrifice of folks on Main Street.

In one week, you can choose policies that invest in our middle-class, create new jobs, and grow this economy from the bottom-up so that everyone has a chance to succeed; from the CEO to the secretary and the janitor; from the factory owner to the men and women who work on its floor.

In one week, you can put an end to the politics that would divide a nation just to win an election; that tries to pit region against region, city against town, Republican against Democrat; that asks us to fear at a time when we need hope.

In one week, at this defining moment in history, you can give this country the change we need.

We began this journey in the depths of winter nearly two years ago, on the steps of the Old State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois. Back then, we didn’t have much money or many endorsements. We weren’t given much of a chance by the polls or the pundits, and we knew how steep our climb would be.

47. I've lived in America for 25 years
I have an American wife (I'm British) been married almost 18 years and have 4 children. I'm asked, why don't I become a citizen? My response is and has always been, that one day my family will look back a few generations and see a picture of me with the image of the standing President, there was NO WAY in hell that George W would be in that frame and not even Clinton but, OBAMA would make the perfect companion, he is a once in a lifetime man... If Barak is elected, I'll become an American, if he doesn't, I may well go home...

64. Where was all his "programs" and "solutions" for poor and homeless folk?
It's all about the middleclass.

Yet, we're supposed to feel "hope" and that it was "powerful".

We're just as invisible with Obama as with anyone else. Including Clinton.

Go ahead and attack.

We're used to it.
