1. Tweety showed this on Hardball - he kept going back to how
the woman kept saying 'he's not, he's not". Tweety said it was because she's been pumped up to believe that Obama's 'not one of us' by the McCain campaign and that they were now trying to backtrack.

14. yeah, you can hear what's left of her brain creaking to a halt...
"He's an Arab." (McCain shakes head.) "He's... he's not? He's not?" (In her mind: "But your people keep pointing out that his middle name's Hussein. But now you're saying he's not an Arab. But you said he is. But but but but but....")

4. He knows he has gone too far.
He has ruined the legacy he tried to mold for the past 25 years.

5. Well. I'm surprised. McCain defending Obama.

The lady in the video reminds me of the folks I see every day around here in Hillbilly Heaven. They can't really articulate what they feel about Obama, and resort to name-calling. McCain just couldn't let that one go, I suppose. I keep hearing all these silly stories about Obama not being a citizen, people speculating on how long he will last in office (shudder), and some other very petty, vile hatreds that seem to be rising to the surface during this ugly phase of the campaign. I'm going to bet that the vast majority of American voters are not this ignorant and racist, NOR are they as anti-intellectual as Sarah Palin would seem to attest.

McCain is going to find out that he not only will lose the Presidential Election, but that he will lose his HONOR if they continue the personal smears on Obama. I really hate to see McCain end his political career as a Lee Atwater/Rove politician. Lose gracefully, if you're going to lose.

6. What's wrong with Arabs?
Can Arabs not be good family men?
I understand that McCain has been getting lots of flack for the hate speech at his events, so something had to change. Swing and a miss, John. Obama is OK now, but Arabs aren't good family men? Give me a break.

7. Well, at least that signals that they know they have to put a stop to it...
And the only way to do that is for McCain to do it himself during Town Hall meetings. A very rare smary move by them. The damage is done and they know they went too far.

9. mccain was FORCED to disavow that as it was gonna be shown on TV - otherwise he is the same....let's
watch the tv ads and listen to the next batch of appearances.

I think he is only caught with his pants down so to speak in this incident.

11. Keep the Pressure On McCain to Renounce the Lies and Hatred
McCain is improving because he has heard loud and clear from the American people that they don't like or support the lies and hatred that have been coming out of McCain/Palin rallies.

I say we shouldn't quit now. Keep telling McCain that he needs to renounce the rhetoric of hate and focus on real solutions for America.

Progressive Future has a tool you can you use to send McCain this message -- please do it today.

12. "He's not, he's a decent family man. . . " An Arab can't be a decent family man?
So he defends Obama, but insults all Arabic people.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt there and assume that he was cutting her off because he heard her and looked into her batshit crazy eyes and knew exactly where she was going with her statement.

16. I think this is where a scripted talking point created something even worse...
I'm watching the rerun of Countdown, and McCain said both times that Obama's "a decent, hardworking family man."

I don't think McCain was thinking "Arab's aren't decent family men", but rather "shit, one of my whipped-up supporters is opening her mouth, quick: response number 241, 'Uh, Obama's a decent family man with whom I just have some political disagreements.'"

Not necessarily better; it's just awful for a different reason. McCain and Palin are talking-point-spewing machines--she because she's too dumb to think of anything else, he because he's too senile to remember anything else. There's nothing of substance there. Well, except for the bile.

13. So now Mclame is the good guy??????
These people will still believe whatever it is they beleive about Obama...Only now crazy ass gets to look like the good guy...like he's been against all of this shit all along.

These town hall meetings are a fucking joke! The perfect platform for all the idiots to spew their hate.

McCain is not fooling me one bit with this bullshit....The MSM plays the shit out of this stuff on TV and the haters will STILL be haters.

I'd like to bump into McAsshole on the street here in Michigan.
