12. That was yet another odd moment from Palin, from my perspective ...
... how she rolled her head back then nodded, mouthing "pizza place", after McCain had made the mistake. It shows me that she is all theatrics. It wasn't a pizza place, so why would she nod in agreement? She doesn't need to agree with McCain, but neither did she need to make *any* comment or acknowledge the statement.

6. So we have to prep her first?
So if some terrorist wants to attack America, he should first notify Palin, let her know what he plans to do, when and where, then give her time to prepare a response?

She can't handle a simple question from a guy in public, how will she handle world leaders?

I ran into Sarah in an elevator in Anchorage once last year. I thought she was an Avon lady or a realtor...until the person I was with said, 'Good Morning, Governor.' My opinion of her hasn't changed - she should be driving a pink caddy and hawking lipstick rather than making a mockery of our political scene (McSame was doing that just fine on his own).

7. Fantastic video which so defines McShame
Not only is McShame totally incorrect in his characterization of this encounter,

but his interruption and attempt to answer for Sarah Palin makes him look more crude than normal.

They really are afraid of letting Palin answer anything on her own.

In that parallel world where they might actually be elected, if something happened to McCain, who would hold Sarah's hand in the oval office?

Pathetic. Totally pathetic.

8. McComplain does it again
First, he swoops down to shield Palin from having to answer questions that are put to her. Then he challenges the right of a citizen to pose a legitimate question to his running mate. These people seem to live in a virtual photo op world. "Intereacting" with voters on the campaign trail apparently means having them shut up unless spoken to first. Palin was clearly there to be seen with "just plain folk" but not to be questioned by them.

10. Notice the girl that was standing in line in front of Palin to be served?
Wasn't that thrilled to see her. Didn't gush over Palin, ask for her autograph or engage in a conversation.

Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 01:22 AM by WoodyD
every time you ask her something other than "what's your favorite recipe for moose stew"? Because when Putin rears his head over Alaska, I'm sure that's what he'll be looking for. We already have the WPE. So thanks, McCain, for the potential WVPE.

22. Response only reveals the evil side of McCain
His attempt to discredit a citizen for asking a candidate about what her response to terrorists would be only reveals that he is morally bankrupt. He is a vicious junk yard dog whose election to the presidency would be a catastrophic blunder. I have to wonder how Palin, who claim to so religious, can associate herself with a person who dumped his crippled wife. I can bet that the immoral bastard made sure to check out Cindy's financial status before committing himself. It was love at first sight, yeah love at first sight with her checkbook.

23. The best part: "I don't even know what that means"
He repeats it several times. As somebody who went to graduate school for six years, I can tell you that this is perhaps the most insulting thing you can say to somebody in a graduate seminar: I don't even know what that means. What you are trained to do in graduate school is take intuitive cliches and analyze them, which is to say, take them apart and examine their constitutive elements.

In this context, Rovito is doing that to "Gotcha Journalism." What does it mean? It cannot be used as a catch-all term. It cannot just circulate as a soundbite. It has to mean something. And when you break down the notion of gotcha journalism, it quickly reveals itself as meaning nothing at all. Or rather, it means something that most people would disagree with: that journalists (or even ordinary people) shouldn't ask tough questions of candidates, or shouldn't reasonably expect a candidate to have a solid answer, based on deep knowledge, ready to go for any question related to important policy. It's an absurdity.

This is how we used to do it in graduate school: I don't even know what that means. Or, if we were being more collegial, you'd get "Could you explain that a bit more?" What's funny is that the CNN imbecile actually took Rovito to not understand what gotcha journalism meant, and tried to "explain it" slowly for him. He cut her off with what amounted to an eyeroll. This is just classic graduate seminar response. Love it.
