2. I could only listen to the first two minutes. Why would Biden say
sp was impressive and gave a well delivered speech? To me she sounded like the fifteen year old girls I taught when they were squabbling....all innuendo and no substance. I think she'll continue to deliver her caustic remarks without substance BECAUSE it WORKS! Many Americans who vote do not listen as we listen here at DU. It's a mistake to think they do. Last night that audience was lapping up the insults and caustic remarks which were only that but they left an impression of a pit bull, one without lipstick. Biden has to stop offering any positive remarks. Just go for the red meat Joe! imho

4. Because we don't want to be accused of "attacking" her. He'll bury her in
a way that doesn't open us to criticism - unfounded though it may be.

I think the positive remarks are almost condescending.

6. listen to the whole thing, then decide.
Joe Biden's a veteran at dealing with unfriendly media, and he played this guy, who kept trying to attach things other Dems and media had said to the Obama campaign. Skillfully and carefully raised expectations for Palin's debate performance. Came off as the nice guy and didn't allow any false statements to stand.

This interview was meant for Rightie consumption. We wouldn't want him to appear as a rabid dog and confirm what they already have been lead to believe about Dems. We want him to be the grown-up and the reasonable alternative that they turn to once they start thinking twice about McCain's new bauble.

8. Because he is building her up to take her down.
The media has already started the narrative that Biden will have trouble in the debate because he will be seen as picking on a poor defenseless mom. We want the narrative to be that she is a capable aggressive attack dog. If she is built up as a partisan attack dog between now and the debate then Biden will be able to use his superior knowledge and skill to expose her as a two dimensional cardboard cutout without looking like a bully. If we get this narrative established for her then will not be sympathy for her when she stumbles in the debate. In other words, he's raising expectations for her because the campaign knows the Repubs will lower expectations for her in the debate and interviews.

15. I'll take your word for it but puh-lease, don't make me listen to the
entire video! I was up all night...no sleep. I just could not get over the msm's take on her wonderful speech. :sarcasm:

21. I would not force anyone to listen to Faux...
My friend ;)

Seriously, I think they're playing her up because the Repubs are playing her down. I'd like to see Biden go after McCain in the debate and keep Palin on the defensive about McCain.

She makes McSame look like a Mensa genius based on some of her past ramblings and Biden needs to trap her in one of her moments of ignorance without directly attacking her. I'd suggested in a previous post that he needs to bring out something that wouldn't be in her briefing statements and ask her opinion on it. Maybe mention something like microlending as a way of reducing third world poverty.

The important thing is that he can't appear patronizing. The MSM will be looking for that and will hammer him if he even slightly comes across that way. She won't have a teleprompter and will have few memorized lines to through out. He needs to trip her up and expose her as a light weight.

10. disagree.
well...I mean he did sort of ACT respectful. But his loaded questions, his making statements as fact, and then saying "but let's move on", in order to prevent any reply...

That guy disgusts me.

14. NOT going to prosecute Bush?
yeah, this is what I expected,. a few off handed comments about doing what is right and bringing the rampantly criminal to justice, to string along the rightious left,. and then when push comes to shove,. or they actually get in power,. no one will be procecuted and no justice will be rought to bare! I think the dems are far and away the lesser of the two potential evils,. however as this video shows there with be no justice under this adminstration either,. the lesser of two evils is still EVIL!,. so when they win, do be prepared to keep fighting for justice.

This interview was purely for right wingers. Biden played it cool, as he does NOT need to give them any ammunition.

I think Senator Biden did a wonderful job, considering the hostility of the host. Maybe not overtly, but the host sure had a narrative and Biden put a stop to all of it imo. He left a great impression I think.
