2. I've seen pictures, but never heard Bachman speak...
...they can't let her into a debate setting. SHE'S unqualified for even that. She is in no position to defend ANYONE. That was unfair to have an educated politico like Carville and a politically savvy comedian like Stephanie Miller argue with that brainless person

3. OMG, those two Repuke women were absolutely acting like Stepford
Wives. Especially the congresswoman. Notice that she hardly blinked at all, and mostly had that stupid simpering smile on her face the whole time?

Stephanie and James did fine smackdowns.

At least the feed on the congresswoman. Carville was talking, as she looked like she had been frozen.

6. "We'll all be impressed with Sarah Palin"
So says Michele Bachmann, who, like Governor Palin, is good-looking, clueless and unqualified for the political office she seeks to win in November.

7. so i guess it's demeaning to women to ask a legitimate question regarding experience
and qualification for the job? i think it's demeaning to women to assume that they will vote for this woman just because they are mad that hillary didn't get the nomination. and to say that that guy is demeaning, when he supported hillary clinton til the day she dropped out!!! wtf.

13. Agreed...
...and Stephanie Miller would not have been needed if comedy was required in this exchange - listening to Bachmann provided comedy enough. It was reminiscent of a Keystone Kops routine, or one of those silent film comedies where the blind tries to lead the blind - to actually even IMPLY that Ms. Palin is more qualified to be VP than Olympia Snowe or Kay Bailey Hutchison (a Texan, to boot!), and to say so with that stupid smile on her face, shows the airspace between her ears.

Comedy gold, and I hope that whoever runs agains Ms. Bachmann uses such material in the campaign against her, to show the constituents what an embarassment she is.

14. It makes me sad. I'm a MN boy in GA...
and it's sad to see a state that produced men like Humbert Humphrey, Eugene McCarthy, and Paul Wellstone, turn into the land of Norm Coleman, Tim Pawlenty, and people like this. Bush and the RW fear/patriotism mongers ruined political life for a lot of folks in this country.

34. The religious right has come into it's own. The GOP has
courted these religious fundy types for many years and now they are stuck with them, much to some chagrin. People like Palin and Bachmann want to foist their religious restrictions on US citizens and they are dedicated to that end and will use every means to accomplish that. The drive to get people like this in position of power has been well designed and we are seeing the results of this push for fundy power.

33. Bachmann is Palin's soulmate. She is an Oral Roberts
religious fundy, anti-environmental, anti-right to choose, even spent time working in Alaska. No wonder she supports Palin, they are cut out of the same cloth.

16. that was a good ol' fashioned whuppin'
Obama was a state senator in a dynamic, populace state for 8 years. He's been senator for 4 years. He may have been running for office for the last year and a half, but he hasn't missed nearly the votes McCain has, plus in 4 years, he's had more Senate accomplishments than McCain has had in 26 years in Congress. Any accomplishment McCain did have, he turned his back on.

18. She sold an airplane on Ebay so there for she should be the VP of the USA
My mind has been officially blown.

I've sold some of these awesome Obama shirts on Ebay
Barack Obama was going to pick me, but then realized he's a very smart intelligent man who knows how to run a successful campaign, so he went with Joe Biden.

30. Another lie - turns out the plane never sold - check out whrab's journal entry
The Ebay-Jet story is a LIE also

That plane never sold. It was listed on ebay, but never sold. It didn't meet the reserve.

Its not really anything to take pride in.

http://www.tamebay.com/2007/01/reserve-not...

so there's another freaking lie.

Wasn't Carville campaigning for Hillary Clinton? Is Hillary not a woman?

Mind boggling. McCain's campaign is no longer the "silly season" it is now the insane season.

25. There's gotta be an air valve sticking out of Michelle Bachmann's head somewhere.
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 06:06 AM by bulloney
And she's several pounds low.

Geez, what an airhead!

'She sold a plane on E-bay!' Yeah, that qualifies her for SOMETHING. I don't know what, but it's gotta qualify her for something.

Did she also stay at a Holiday Inn, Congresswoman Bachmann?

And she's a member of Congress? Oh my gawd!!! Who are the dumbfucks who voted for her?

As for Bachmann's remark that Palin shouldn't be linked to Hillary, if I remember correctly, Congresswoman Bachmann, Palin has used Hillary in her speeches since being introduced as Crash's VP pick. At her introductory speech in Dayton, she referred to the 18-million cracks in the glass ceiling that Hillary created. This reminds me of the Quayle-Bentsen debate where Quayle kept trying to link himself with JFK and Bentsen gave him the 'You're no Jack Kennedy' smackdown.

28. Republicans appealing to their base
A con artist is an easy mark for another con artist. Republicans are expert at reinforcing each other's bigotry cloaked in the Flag and the Bible.
If Republicans want religion imposed on government, then they shouldn't mind having government imposing on their religion.

Washington Allston -- "The most intangible, and therefore the worst, kind of a lie is a half truth. This is the peculiar device of a 'conscientious' detractor."

Fawn Brodie -- "Nixon lied to gain love, to shore up his grandiose fantasies, to bolster his ever-wavering sense of identity. He lied in attack, hoping to win -- and always he lied, and this most aggressively, to deny that he lied."

Ralph Waldo Emerson -- "Every violation of truth is not only a sort of suicide in the liar, but is a stab at the health of human society."

Eric Hoffer -- "Those in possession of absolute power can not only prophesy and make their prophecies come true, but they can also lie and make their lies come true."

Thomas Jefferson -- "He who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it a second and third time, till at length it becomes habitual; he tells lies without attending to it, and truths without the world's believing him. This falsehood of the tongue leads to that of the heart, and in time depraves all its good dispositions."

John F. Kennedy -- "The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie -- deliberate, contrived and dishonest -- but the myth -- persistent, persuasive and unrealistic."

Frank R. Kent -- From the time a candidate conceives the idea of being a candidate until the day he is forced out of politics there is no chance for him to be wholly honest, frank, and natural with voters. From the start he humbugs them."

H. L. Mencken -- "The men the American public admire most extravagantly are the most daring liars; the men they detest most violently are those who try to tell them the truth."

Thomas Paine -- "It is impossible to calculate the moral mischief, if I may so express it, that mental lying has produced in society. When a man has so far corrupted and prostituted the chastity of his mind as to subscribe his professional belief to things he does not believe, he has prepared himself for the commission of every other crime."

Ayn Rand -- "People think that a liar gains a victory over his victim. What I've learned is that a lie is an act of self-abdication, because one surrenders one's reality to the person to whom one lies, making that person one's master, condemning oneself from then on to faking the sort of reality that person's view requires to be faked. And if one gains the immediate purpose of the lie -- the price one pays is the destruction of that which was intended to serve. The man who lies to the world, is the world's slave from then on."

L. Neil Smith -- "I propose a Constitutional Amendment providing that, if any public official, elected or appointed, at any level of government, is caught lying to any member of the public for any reason, the punishment shall be death by public hanging."

James Thurber -- "You can fool too many of the people too much of the time."

Mark Twain -- "The most outrageous lies that can be invented will find believers if a man only tells them with all his might."

Bob Woodward -- "There's hostility to lying, and there should be."
