2. A Fake Attempt by the GOP
to soften Obama's message to gain votes. They copy the Dems all the time to stunt their message to stop that popular message (ie The drug prescription bill the democrats started) and claim it as their own. Such filthy charlatans.

3. Actually,
the US is only allowed by UN mandate to stay in Iraq until the end of this year. Thus the US is at a disadvantage in these negotiations, and Iraq has the upper hand. The Iraqis could ask the US to leave at the end of the year. Hence they can force the US to leave on a timetable.

Which is great for Obama. He has been validated, and McCain is an awkward position. It was his only playing card.

4. True
The UN mandate has basically tied Bush's hands unless he wants to go against the UN mandate which wouldnt be much of a shock. But still this is being set up to make McCain go back on pretty much everything he has said up to this point, it also shows why he agreed with Obama's timeline on CNN a couple of weeks ago. He is going to have to squirm out of his policy on Iraq pretty quickly if this is the agreement to save face. Or he will probably just make some shit up and keep saying "conditions on the ground" which is the only thing he has at this point.
