David Dinkins (later first Black Mayor of NYC) was running against incumbent Andrew Stein for Manhattan Borough President (a powerful position then, but a figurehead one now) and his ad was in response to Stein asking 'what has Dinkins done to deserve being Borough President besides being Black?'

The next ad was one for Jim Florio in his first run at the Gov. office in which he lost to Thomas Kean by the closest vote in NJ history.
