1. Thanks for the post!
The words of his family were so nice to listen to - they loved him dearly.

2. I saw or heard his daughter in an interview years ago
and she said pretty much the same thing...that the grouch wasn't who he really was, that his stage persona was very much a put-on. His ideas, his higher understanding, was for real, but the dark streak wasn't really part of the real man.

It's easy to see how much she loved her father and hearing her speak here was a great send-off of a genuinely funny, thoughtful, and amazing human being.

3. In the early 70's, I took my girlfriend to see George
at a local nightclub in L.A. called the Troubador. We sat in the last row in the balcony, and the performers walked past us from their dressing room to the stage. Anyway, my girlfriend forgot her purse. When we called the club the next day, it turned out George Carlin found her purse. We met him in the Troubador parking lot early that evening. George himself came out with the purse and returned it. He said he went through the purse for drugs. Since she didn't have any, everything was still there. We thought it was funny. He didn't have to met us in the parking lot, hours before he was scheduled to go on. He could've just given the purse to management and let them deal with it. I know this isn't a big story, but ever since then I knew that George was a really good guy.

7. I think you're absolutely right. But he seemed like such a nice guy,
that if he'd found any drugs in my girlfriends purse, I'm sure he would've offered to share them with us.

9. Hard to believe...
That voice was coming from someone OLDER than George Carlin. He sounded so youthful.

Wonderful to hear how much they loved him, brings tears to my eyes, but you can see the positive effect having George in their lives has had in their attitudes about his death. They didn't talk about how sad it was or how hard they were taking it. Just about the good things he brought to their lives.
