3. For the record...

Boeing was being an absolute intractable bastard demanding 50% more up front and any cost over runs (even if Boeing caused the cost over runs). The big whigs at Boeing thought these was their cow and they were determined to milk it for all it was worth. I say good for the Air Force for finding a viable alternative. We have to many monopolies and not enough competition in the defense industry. There are to many chummy deals between politicians and big business which end up having tax payers footing the bill for over priced and not very good items. For once the Air Force decided to opt for the better plane which was significantly cheaper instead of the politically connected virtual monopoly. Good for them.
