I joined the Steelworkers Union in their associate member
program, which is open to everyone.

Then I found out that the OPEIU constitution allows locals to offer associate membership. While associate members are not permitted to vote, they are allowed to address the membership with concerns.

I wonder if a program like this would be a backdoor way of finally getting WalMart workers organized. If enough of them were union associate members, the NLRB could no longer deny that they have enough interest to certify a vote FOR a union.
