By Doug Cunningham

After a three-month struggle and negotiations the 12,000 union nurses in the Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota area this week ratified a new contact with 14 hospitals. The agreement was reached after nurses staged a limited strike. The Minnesota Nurses Association says the new contract has zero concessions and maintained the staffing language in the current contract. Nurse pensions also remained the same. The union did not win the nurse-patient ratio language it wanted, but says the campaign for safety will continue.
