SEIU Janitors In Cincinnati May Be Headed For A Strike - 07/20/07

Janitors in Cincinnati could be ready to walk off the job as early as next week if contract negotiations don’t improve. Jesse Russell has more:

Janitors represented by the Service Employees International Union in Cincinnati are heading into next week wondering if they will be forced to strike in order to improve contract negotiations. Nearly 1200 janitors who are responsible for cleaning major offices through out the city could hit the picket lines after negotiations scheduled for July 25 and 26. The union is negotiating for both better pay and health care benefits. Currently many of the janitors have no health care and make less than $28 per day. Some of the businesses that could be impacted are Macy’s, Procter and Gamble, and Fifth Third Bank. The workers voted to give the union the power to call a strike on July 14.
