Golf tournament helps local kids

BEAUMONT - USW Locals 801 and 825 Helping Hands non-profit organization will be hosting a golf tournament Aug. 4 at Bayou Din in Beaumont to raise money for two young children in Lumberton in need of help with medical expenses.

Jaden White, 4, suffers from autism and must attend schooling at the Shorkey Center for approximately 11 months at $3,400 per month, which is not covered by insurance.

Brooklyn Johnson, 2, has a cancerous tumor too large to be removed by surgery and has undergone chemo treatments to shrink the tumor to allow for surgical removal.

Her family does not have insurance and her father works for the postal distribution center in Beaumont being shut down in a few months.

Hole sponsorships for $200 or team sponsorships for $260 or donations of any amount are needed to help with this tournament.
