'Enough is Enough' Labor Rally Attracts Hundreds in Warren

Several hundred people turned out for a rally sponsored by organized labor in Warren Saturday.

The theme of the event could be summed up, "Enough is enough."

"Let's talk about the thousands of people in the auto industry in this valley that are not working. We've had enough," said Warren Mayor Mike O'Brien.

The mayor pointed out three decades of job losses in the Mahoning Valley have cost cities millions of dollars in lost revenue, that's translated into reduced services and more job losses in the public sector.

Organizers encouraged members to lobby state and federal lawmakers for rules and regulations that protect workers, such as the Employee Free Choice Act and health care reform.

"We have a criminal lack of health care," said Juanita James, another speaker who said her medical bills run $2,000 a month yet she and her husband no longer have health care from employers.

People carried signs identifying their cause with an effort to save the middle class and preserve jobs.
