Harley Davidson announces more job cuts - 04/20/09

Harley-Davidson announced on Thursday morning it would be cutting jobs company wide. One plant that will be impacted is in York County. The plant located in Springettsbury Township and has already been the victim of mass layoffs when Harley cut 249 positions in March. As a result of Thursday’s announcement an additional 90 jobs are expected to be slashed staring next week. Overall the York County Harley plant employs nearly 2500 workers. The Milwaukee Wisconsin based company saw first quarter income plummet 37 percent. Company wide Harley plans to slash 300-400 more hourly jobs on top of the 1,100 announced in January.

1. I wonder how many Harley owning "bikers" can't make their payments on the
$30,000 Road King they bought for weekend runs to the local biker bar? I'm guessing there are a lot of used Harleys in the Auto trader do to layoffs and a lot of repossessed bikes at credit unions. Now even the factory source of all that "American Iron" is having layoffs. Who'd a thunk?
