Iowa Flooding Affects Workers’ Unions Throughout The State

http://www.laborradio.org/node/8808

Organized labor is being impacted by the flooding throughout Iowa. Jesse Russell reports:

There are 14 AFL-CIO labor councils in the state of Iowa, and currently 12 of them are being impacted directly by the flooding. Ken Sagar is President of the Iowa AFL-CIO out of Des Moines, and he said many areas are still under mandatory evacuation so many residents still don’t know what sort of impact the flooding has had on their homes and businesses. Organized labor has been making due with what resources they have if they can’t get to offices:

: "Some folks are very overwhelmed by the scope of that. I know a couple of union offices are now working from their homes, using their home computers and resources they have at home because their offices are in mandatory evacuation zones and they can’t even get in to see what they have left."
