Alfa Leisure calls it quits - 150 jobs lost
Another Saturday and another RV company closes its doors. These are high-end RVs. So now the economy is hitting the affluent buyer.

Alfa Leisure calls it quits

Alfa Leisure Inc. of Ontario, Calif., has ceased operations April 30. The shutdown impacted about 150 employees.

The company offered both luxury motorhomes and fifth-wheel travel trailers. The company sold its 35-foot and 40-foot motor homes under the See Ya! brand. Alfa’s fifth-wheel models included the Toyhouse, which featured a storage area intended for motorcycles or all-terrain vehicles.

There are currently no plans for additional operations and the company shutdown is just one of a growing number of RV manufacturers that have closed their doors. As housing values have dropped, many potential buyers have lost the equity in their homes they had in the past used to purchase big-ticket items.

1. My 5th wheel is parked!
And will probably wind up being the hide-out for my nephew when the draft is re-instated.

2. We haven't taken a trip in ours for some time
Mostly it's been because of health reasons. So even local camping in the mountains has been out. But I've checked out the nearest state park and it's only 10 miles from the house. I can see us going up there during the week several times during the summer since we're retired. I have to wonder if it's going to be a ghost town mid week.

I think we're going to see private campground closures next.

3. If you can afford a high-end RV
you should pay an extra tax, like those who buy yachts.

4. Looks like they can't even afford to buy those high end rv's these days
But I agree with you. An extra tax for those who can buy them shouldn't hurt the wealthy.

Did you see the picture someone posted here in DU the other day of the yacht for sale? I think it was from Craig's List. The owner couldn't afford to keep it.
