brazil is making ethnanol out of sugar cane,it accounts for 40% of the fuel used, the rest comes from oil platforms of the oast, they are completely independent of any foreign fuels.i thought the usa was the leader in the world.guess i`m wrong.peace,oh sugar cane ethanol burns clean.

1. Sadly, I cannot think of anything for which that is true anymore.
"i thought the usa was the leader in the world."

2. I heard the President of Brazil on the radio talking about ethanol
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 06:34 PM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
and he said that ethanol from sugar cane was a lot cheaper to produce and he could not understand why the US was putting their eggs in the corn basket. My own assumption is that the cocktail parties the corn lobby gives are better than the cocktail parties the sugar producers give.

9. You are right. The government is run by corporatists with interests

in other countries who do not care about what is best for the people of this country. They only care about their bottom lines. If they must choose between the US and its people and principles, and their bottom lines, there really is no choice for them. Profits always comes first, no matter who or what must be sacrificed, including human lives.
Wars make lots of money, so wars are very good business. Corporations do not care if thousands of people die or are maimed. The CEOs are certainly not going to be doing the actual fighting. They are just going to be getting richer.

6. Brazil did that a very long time.
They converted most of their VW Beetles to run on the stuff. Then something went wrong but I can't rememeber what exactly. It was something to do with either failed sugar crops or the economics of the exercise. I know that the outcome for at least a while was the place littered with useless Beetles.

8. My cousin was telling me about this last night.
He has been there a few times and really likes it.

He observed the widespread use of ethanol and other fuels.

I suppose that can occur in a nation not controlled by big oil corporations and their cronies.

I am considering retiring there. Just got the Pimsleur Portugeuse program.

I am visiting there later this year to see if I like it.

10. "burns clean" N.B. that the main products are the same as petrol.
However we see a significant drop in all the other things except the two main products: Water and Carbon Dioxide. Which is cool.

Just some morning trivia. (It's 10:00 am Sunday here)
