It's an election year and Repukes are bleeding - Media Whore Mode to HIGH!
While I'm used to unbalanced coverage, I'm perceiving a perceptible increase in the Corporate Media Sleaze Machine.

Here's my take on their Alito strategy: They put forward a SCOTUS candidate that begs to be filibustered - but they blackout any coverage that explains to the masses just why the Democrats find Alito so objectionable. That leaves the Democrats in the Senate a real Hobson's choice:

1.) Filibuster Alito and then watch as the Corporate Media broadcasts a "Democrats are out of step with the country" message 24x7 all year long.

2.) Rubber stamp Alito and allow the most radical SCOTUS nominee in a generation replace the swing vote - completely alienating the Democratic base.

Reminds me of the 2002 Iraq War Powers Act wedge.

2. Another integral part of the stratgey is to use skewed or made up polling
Guys like Bill Schneider come on CNN before a word is uttered in the Senate Alito hearings and declares resolutely that Americans like Alito and think he is mainstream. Schneider has been doing this for years and he is not the only one.

The vast majority of corporate media in America is corrupt to the core. The coverage on the cable news stations is especially biased. It is no accident that the story selections include 24 hrs of Sago mine coverage etc. It is no accident that Tim Russert opens his MTP show by declaring that Harry Reid accepted money from Abramoff when he KNOWS IT IS NOT TRUE.

One expert who presents an "it's all politics" point of view and another who parrots the RW Alito talking points without blushing:

4. Every time the corp-whores become...
the 'story' I get depressed....because the 'story' is only that...far removed from the reality of the disasterous consequences awaiting us, as a result of this governments actions.

6. What I find interesting
is how quiet the rightwingers are with Alito. Sam on the Majority Report was just talking about how they usually have rightwing callers but they haven't had one yet. They did have two but they hanged up for whatever reason. It seems very strange how quiet they are but why?

10. Tuesday morning and still waiting for anything like balanced coverage...
To our Corporate Media:

Guys, you're really over the top this time. Try to at least have a DLC Democrat on your panels for balance. OK ?
