MSNBC poll: Vote for impeachment!
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10562904#survey

Do you believe President Bush's actions justify impeachment?
* 233508 responses

Yes, between the secret spying, the deceptions leading to war and more, there is plenty to justify putting him on trial.
86%

No, like any president, he has made a few missteps, but nothing approaching "high crimes and misdemeanors."
4.4%

No, the man has done absolutely nothing wrong. Impeachment would just be a political lynching.

50. it's not about ballot stuffing
I forget how to word the issue properly, but what makes it unscientific is not that people are voting more than once, it's about who would be inclined to answer the poll to begin with.

Activist pointing like minded people to a poll will skew it, but I doubt it would cause that big a gap in the numbers.

10. Censure now/Impeach Bush after midterm elections
There are legitimate questions as to whether Denny Hastert will remain Speaker of the House, especially if Dems retake the House in November. Bush should be impeached after Nov, Cheney indicted and forced to resign, and that leaves the new Democratic Majority Speaker of the House to rise to the Office of President for the remainder of Bush's term --and you can bet there will not be any pardons like we experienced with Gerald Ford.

It all begins with the exposure of Bush to the American people. Censure. Impeachment. And either resignation or trial in the Senate.

One yes.

Two no's.

The sad thing is that this poll is slanted in favor of Emperor Monkeynutz, but what's even sadder is that the YES votes are clearly solid.

Not even a mountain of bullshit could cover the evil that is Bush.

and the percentages remain the same

234,075 votes

maybe we should be sending this as an email to the house, or at least to conyers

(maybe the poll is skewed because us wild-eyed, radical, liberal democratic "base" have 86% of the computers with internet access within the general population--so of course the number for impeachment is high! :sarcasm: )

35. Although we would all like to see the Dems come out swinging...
on this issue, one thing is abundantly clear...they have no political power...it would be like pissing into the wind.

If any of the Rethug members of congress had any decency and sense of responsibility in upholding the Constitution, the very thing they swore under oath, they would be championing the mantel of impeachment, but we all know that they are as much if not more corrupt than the * regime.

I know that these online polls are not scientific at all, but 86% out of 250k votes in favor of impeachment says something.

36. Are we there yet?
more than one co-worker expressed frustration yesterday. At one point during the day I had 5 guys asking me questions about the impeachment process and what it would mean.

What spurred the sudden interest with impeachment? iraq? the lies? katrina? incompetence? Although these did play a part in it - the main reason for them to be upset is GAS PRICES. This seemed to be the straw to break the camel's back -- they have had enough.

I patiently explained cheney's secret meetings and how the resulting legislation has caused prices to go up - (according to the spin). I pointed out the current state of Iraq and probable invasion of Iran is also influeing prices. How much influence, I said, I'm not sure - but oil companies are posting record profits made from YOUR money at the pumps. I also mentioned that much of the legislation passed has been written by industries and not Congress, such as the energy bill and prescription drugs (medicare)

One co-worker wanted to know if bush could nationalize the oil companies. I nodded, he probably could - but won't. Oil companies hold too much power - they wrote the Energy Bill - not congress - all the REPUBLICAN congress did was get out their rubberstamps and pass it.

Then I was asked why Congress hasn't impeached yet... I pointed to the republican hold on Congress, and mentioned that the 2006 mid-term platform for the republicans is "We WON'T impeach."

On co-worker walked away muttering very loudly - "Screw regime change in Iran or Iraq - we need a regime change here."

another one said "I don't care if GOD is running as a Republican - I'm going to vote for whatever Democrat is on the ticket"

note: these co-workers pretty much do not read more than the sports page, they are big football fans, and NASCAR fans.

Do you believe President Bush's actions justify impeachment? * 236088 responses

George W. Bush willfully violated National Security to cover-up his willful launch of a war of aggression and illegal occupation of Iraq.

It excludes illiterate, ignorant, theocratic thugs/rethugs who can't read the questions.

69. sure, this doesn't represent the whole population
but it does represent for the most part, the internet savvy, decently informed, reading population. It takes some major cognitive dissonance for someone who is well informed to still support Bush.

75. The poll itself is amazing
Edited on Thu Apr-13-06 05:54 PM by PATRICK
For a rare and critical instance the poll is not weighted to suppressing the issue and maybe even making it much easier. That in itself is truly amazing. As bad as online polling is just think if they did ALL the issues that way.

People would be banding together and saying "that's right, what the hell are we (or they) waiting for?"

76. I voted Yes because
Absolutely! you bet! No question about it! was not an option.

I wonder what the scientific polls are showing about now. I doubt it's anything like 86%, but it could be hovering around 50 by now.
