Why did the WH refuse to take the nuclear option off the table for Iran?
Their nuclear blueprint they unveiled last week calls for the abiltiy to produce new 'bunker-busting' bombs. They want to modify the existing bunker-busters, the B61-11, to make them more 'effective'.

The military leadership, according to Sy Hersh, came to the president 2-3 weeks ago and asked for the nuclear option to be taken out of the Iran war plans. Bush refused. Why?

If they took the nuclear option off the table they couldn't use their number-one enemy as justification for their next-generation nukes. Come to think of it, all they have to justify any need for a new generation of modified, bunker-busting B61-11s, and the construction of new nuclear plants with the capability to produce 125 bombs a year, is their fable of underground bunkers in Iran.

No enemy with deep underground bunkers, no need for new bunker-busting nukes.

1. Sy Hersh is a trial balloon for Bushco
They want to see what the public reaction is going to be toward the repukes if they use nukes. When it's all said and done Dumbass-in-chief will say Sy got it all wrong. We only wanted to bomb the effing shit out of Iran using conventional weapons. Then the public will go along thinking that's not so bad or not as bad as using nukes.

It's also stealing a play from the "Gipper". The Gip threatened Russia with Star Wars at a time the country couldn't begin to compete or defend it's self with a program like SW. A little saber rattling if you will to ignite the masses that do not follow the current leadership in Iran.

The third option is Bush is totaly freaking insane and Iran will glow in the dark.

2. well, the WH didn't really put this out there on purpose
Sy got the scoop from some freaked generals.

The idea of stirring Iran's masses against their leadership is bound to fail as the majority put their current president in power, in part driven by our own militarism and his strong resistance to it, at least rhetorically.

Bush is insane.
