Retirement calculator
I was looking for it for my brother whom still has a 9 year old son. I was wondering how long his retirement would hold out.

2. no problemo
Just tell your brother's son not to bother
saving for a retirement that will never happen. ;-)

on the history of retirement:

I don't believe retirement is relevant as sold by wall street today.
The old date when they rush you out of the factory to obsolescence is
no longer relevant with information workers and improving health standards.

Its tragic when people postpone living their dreams until a mythical
retirement and then die before hand. I find this one of the more tragic
results of the myth... if you wait until retirement to travel the world,
you may never get there.

4. My brother would laugh
he retired at 50 to raise the adopted son he waited his entire life for. He is there for him 24/7 as unfortunately most parents can't be. My brother has been to all 50 states, every continent and has been to places I can't even find on a map. I was just checking to see if his investments will hold, he will never go back to work at 59.

5. ha!
He's traded in his career as a rich retiree to
be a childminder that pays minimum wage most places.
I bet he doesn't retire at 59. :-)

7. ? that's what i replied to
"raising his adopted son" -- full time childminder

I was saying we all do something... even for free...
and i meant, now that i'm explaining myself, that
he would hopefully continue to be a great childminder
for his adopted son past the age of 59... does that
not fit with your post?

8. Sometimes you have to remind us you are not from US
Have no idea what a childminder is..but google definition doesn't make my brother a 'childminder' anyway.

This is the statement that made no sense from previous post
I bet he doesn't retire at 59. Maybe a language difference..sorry

9. the irony of childcare
i was trying to make a joke and failed.

Its so ironic that an extremely successful person would retire to be a prole,
what so many people do for a profession, wishing they could escape that life
and become successful like your brother... and its so ironic.

I don't think its possible for a dynamic highly successful person to
not do something, and the statement "i bet he doesn't retire at 59" was
supposed to say that he'll likely keep being a good father after 59, not
retiring from his new role.

You are lucky to have such a dynamic sibling.

namaste,

He was put of this earth to be a parent. He loves it and would adopt many more if he could.
