According to Law & Order, that means the motive is less likely to be personal or professional. Also, he didn't die right away. Bush's hit men probably would have whacked him right there if he were working on something sensitive.

32. Do you think that professional murderers don't know to make it look
like a robbery, or an accident, or something other than what the motive actually is? Maybe he wasn't supposed to die. Maybe he was supposed to be warned. Kind of like that aide of Grassley's.

6. More from WaPo:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/01/07/AR2006010701098.html

Aside from three years at the Times's headquarters in New York, Rosenbaum had been a member of the Washington bureau for his entire career, his brother said.

Relatives and colleagues said Rosenbaum had accepted a buyout last month but still did work for the bureau.

Robin Toner, a colleague in the bureau, said Rosenbaum's assignments included that of chief economics correspondent and several editing posts. He shared the 1990 George Polk Award for national reporting for coverage of the federal budget. Toner called him "a terrific reporter and a great human being."

The area where the attack occurred is regarded as one of the safest in the city. Residents have reported robberies from time to time, but violent attacks are rare.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/01/08/AR2006010801179_2.html

Robbery appears to be the motive.

There have also been an unusual number of robberies and assaults in another "nice" area recently (Georgetown).

That area is way far north of Gtown, fairly close to the MD border. (You can tell by the three-syllable street name Gramercy.) I would say it's more Cleveland Park/Van Ness than anything.

Your "quick google" proves absolutely nothing. Unless you can determine that there's a pattern of pro-Bush writing from this man, you shouldn't allege that he's a "supporter."

Jill Carroll, 28, on assignment with the Christian Science Monitor, was outside the office of a Sunni politician whom she was to interview when she was taken.

AP and other newz outlets agreed to "blackout" the news till today. Why?

Reporters are being targeted and warned NOT to report the truth.

Iraqi Police Seek Kidnapped U.S. Reporter
By PATRICK QUINN, Associated Press Writer

snip
After initial reports of the kidnapping on Saturday, The Associated Press and other news organizations honored a request from the newspaper in Boston and a journalists' group in Baghdad for a news blackout. The request was made to give authorities an opportunity to try to resolve the incident during the early hours after the abduction.

At the time of the kidnapping, police Maj. Falah Mohamadawi said Carroll's translator, identified on a U.S.-issued press card as Alan John Ghazi, told police before he died that he and Carroll had gone to meet al-Dulaimi, the leader of the Iraqi Accordance Front.

However, the newspaper identified the translator as Allan Enwiyah, 32.

31 reporters abducted

Jill is the latest of 31 journalists to have been kidnapped in Iraq since the beginning of the war according to Reporters Sans Frontières, an advocacy group in Paris. Thousands of Iraqis and more than 250 foreigners have been abducted, some by gangs seeking ransom, others by insurgents demanding the departure of US troops from Iraq. Four Christian peace activists are among the dozen or so foreigners still being held captive.
