1. Oh Lord! The average professor is a terrified nerd with a god complex
They talk big until someone takes them out of their natural habitat, and then they crumple.

2. I'd like to do a comparison
and get Robertson out of his comfort zone.

See who crumples first. My money's on Robertson. Professors have to toughen up a lot to get where they are. Teaching assistants are anoother matter.

on his side.

Profs are pretty weak.

I couldn't speak to your statement about teaching assistants. Some of them are fabulous and some are completely incompetent.

4. Excuse me? Talk big until someone takes them out of their natural habitat?
Are you referring to Robertson?? Or open-minded, battered-by-the-right, professors?

I, personally continue to lecture on all kinds of topics that make my red state students uncomfortable, and Google my name every once in a while to see if any of them has turned me in to the Ralph Nader site where students can narc on profs.

:grr:

7. I hope it's true. We need some tough hides in academia.
Most of what I see are privileged cowards, who spend most of their time battering each other over inane departmental issues.

Religious fundamentalism's worst enemy is education. Why do you think the early church fought for so long to ban people from even being taught to read?
