Congregationals from Owosso+Muslims from Flint = Peace in our time.
Last night I had the immeasurable privilege of answering the "The Call to Prayer" with 25 members of the Islamic Center of Flint, Michigan, in the Sanctuary of local Church of Christ.

The Pastor of that congregation has been meeting with and attending prayers with the members of the mosque at the Islamic Center for 6 months. This from a man who is a former Marine, has one son who is a serving Marine in Iraq and one son who is an Airman in Saudi Arabia.

We spent 3 hours in mutual discovery, prayer and fellowship, during which the Imam from the Center extracted a promise from me personally to attend prayers at the Mosque.

One of our most enlightening discussions centered around his comment that they were much more ashamed of Osama bin Laden than we as Christians and Americans must be of Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. I just about split a gut laughing as did he.

Our Owosso, Michigan chapter of Veterans Against The War is mobilizing: You may here big things from us.

1. Well, I felt good about it.
Still do. Nice to have that much positive agreeable energy in one place for a change. I just might stop by the Mosque on the way home for evening prayers.

2. Thanks for the uplifting post
Good to see the sane members of both of these religions coming together.

BTW, are you active with your local Dems by chance?

4. Yup. Now a local member of Veterans for Peace as well.
We're going to start attending rallies-ALL rallies unless they won't let us in, and they we'll just non-violently wait outside. Similar stuff.

3. That sounds awesome
and the only way we will really achieve peace on a deeper, lasting level is by making connections like this.

Beautiful! :applause:

6. Inshallah...
For Allah wishes nothing but Peace and Harmony amongst the infinite diversity he has created.

(I spelled that how I heard it pronounced. Hope it's at least close)

7. Brother, you've got it!
I've seen it spelled a lot of different ways, and this is one of them. Besides, you spelled it with your heart, which makes it very ok.

8. And the biggest reaction here at this godforesaken factory....
...where I work: "That's nice, I guess."

Sheesh. But I won't let it stop me.
