So how long before Iran?
Our main concern is apparently now to protect Israel. :(

Will we see an invasion conveniently executed before the midterms?

1. Pretty clever, you got to hand it to them
If you oppose military action against Iran, now you're being anti-Israel.

2. Absolutely
Gotta find something, the whole "imminent threat thing national security" thing is a little tired.

7. It is clever...
...because any military action will result in charges of "the massive power of the Israeli lobby," and "soldiers dying for another country." It is "win-win" for BushCO. They get their war and a scapegoat to boot!

6. Bush warns Iran on Israel
CLEVELAND, United States (AFP) - US President George W. Bush said he hoped to resolve the nuclear dispute with Iran with diplomacy, but warned Tehran he would "use military might" if necessary to defend Israel.

8. initally I thought
he would wait until after the mid-terms

however - his poll numbers are in the toilet, and the repugs are pretending they don't know him

Booga-booga isn't working that well to boost bush*'s numbers, and those numbers are dragging down the repugs numbers. Plus, all this "happy talk" about Iraq is not doing him any good either.

from a political perspective - just rattling sabers, beating war drums and yelling "boo" isn't enough to absolutely secure a "win" for repugs and to ensure a compliant/submissive Congress in November

as I've said many times - there are two scenarios - both end with invading Iran

1. Israel attacks Iran, Iran retailiates against Israel and then we have to invade Iran to protect Israel.

2. Terror attack on US soil - and it doesn't matter who attacks - Iran will get the blame and we invade. (this one is a bit more risky - afterall the bushies have been saying we are safer, so if there's a terror attack on US soil - how safe are we really?)

Either scenario will undercut the Dems - afterall how could you be against defending a little country such as Israel from a brutal regime such as Iran, or refuse defend your own country from terrorists?

Scenario 1 is the probable - timing wise - I'm looking at September/October - this gives the GOPers 1-2 months of "outrage" and plenty of time to slam their Dem opponent. And yeah, there will be some "emergency" session for a quick up/down vote on another war resolution.

in a nutshell - our troops in IRAQ will get some good news and some bad news

Good news: "We're pulling out of Iraq"
Bad News: "We're going to Iran"
