I got interviewed on local TV at Chicago protest!
Hey kids!

I marched in the 3rd anniversary war protest in Chicago yesterday and got interviewed by local ABC affiliate, AND THEY AIRED IT! You can watch the video by going here:

then click on the video link just below the start of the article. I'm the one right after Juan Torres. It was just a brief soundbyte, but I don't think I sounded too stupid!

The protest was a great event, peaceful but energetic, and we had a pretty good turnout (though it really should have been ten times the size it was!)

We all need to get our feet on the ground at these events, fellow DUers!

6. I totally agree!
But maybe NOISIER instead of nosier?

And we were pretty noisy anyway. There's a pretty good article in today's Chicago Tribune, believe it or not!

13. Cops were filming the protest
Lots of them, so my little face and my fingers raised in a peace sign now grace all kinds of footage. I guess my dossier is a little fatter now. I'm so glad I wore make-up for my photo ops!

The police presence at the march was pretty intense--if you added their numbers to the crowd estimate it would go up exponentially. In full storm trooper regalia, too--even the police horses had their visors down, ready to defend against the paper cuts from our signs. Geez louise!

We were chatting with one of the "friendly" cops (the ones passing out the printed rules for the march), and my friend challenged him with, "why are you so afraid of a couple of fat old ladies?!"

12. Young man inconvenienced because he was late picking up girlfriend???
For a movie??? He looked eligible age to fight in Iraq.

Does my heart good to see all the young people out protesting and voicing their discontent with this administration. Does my heart good to see all the college students taking their spring break working in NO instead of drinking, screwing and making asses of themselves in Cancun or whereever. Does my heart good to know that there are millions of young people who are paying attention and know that our very lives depend on being aware and active.

You can bet this young man will not spend his money or time watching a Farenheit 9/11 or good night and good luck......

14. We were heartened also
to see a lot of young faces at the march. But we also got harassed on the street by a group of young women after the protest as we straggled away from the end of the march carrying our signs and candles. They were pretty disgusting. But we also got a lot of support.

I could have rounded up some people and been out there. I had nothing to do! I never find out about protests until it's too late!

if you want to be kept apprised, I think you should join any of the local peace groups. You could start here:

This is the group that put this action together, and there are lots of links and other good info there.
